Rund 15.000 Besucher im Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Köln (MAKK), tausende Interessenten rund um den Museumsvorplatz, etwa 2.000 historische Automobile mitten in der Kölner Innenstadt: der erste “Drive it-Day” der Stadt Köln war ein voller Erfolg. Auch CITROËN konnte sich als Marke, die traditionell für außerordentliches Design steht, als Sponsor der Veranstaltung bestens in Szene setzen.

CITROËN konnte die enorme Kraft der Marke in der Vergangenheit, in der Gegenwart und in der Zukunft eindrucksvoll präsentieren. Mit zahlreichen historischen CITROËN Modellen (EQUIPE berichtete hier), mit den beiden Concept Cars SportLounge und REVOLTe sowie mit der Ausstellung aktueller Modelle zeigte die Marke einen beeindruckenden Überblick über „CITROËN gestern, heute und morgen“.

„CITROËN hat einmal mehr den richtigen Riecher für ein Event gehabt, bei dem man in entspannter Atmosphäre mit Interessenten und Kunden der Marke in Kontakt treten kann”, so Bettina Schulze Vowinkel, CITROËN Marketing. „Die Innenstadt war gesäumt von Familien sowie Auto- und Oldtimer-Liebhabern. Ein voller Erfolg.“

Die Ausstellung der historischen Modelle war in Zusammenarbeit mit Amicale Citroën Deutschland und den Citroën-Clubs zusammengetragen worden. Stephan Joest bestätigte den großartigen Erfolg der Veranstaltung: „Der erste Drive it-Day in Köln zeigte die Vielfalt der Oldtimer und Youngtimer-Szene. Die Besucher waren durchweg begeistert und haben CITROËN Automobile ihrer Kindheit und Jugendtage wiederentdeckt. Es war ein großes Familientreffen und wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf 2013.“

Die Durchführung des zweiten Drive it-Day steht schon jetzt fest. Ramona Breuer (MAKK): „Die große Resonanz der vielen Besucher und die tolle Atmosphäre an diesem Tag haben uns begeistert. Crowds gathering at Cologne’s 1st Drive It-Day 2012

Around 15,000 visitors at the Museum of Applied Art in Cologne (MAKK), thousands of individuals around the museum’s forecourt, about 2,000 cars in the middle of the historic center of Cologne: the first “Drive it-Day” in the city of Cologne was a resounding success. Citroën also established itself as a brand that has always stood for exceptional design, set as a sponsor of the event very well staged.

CITROËN could impressively present the enormous power of the brand in the past, the present and in the future. With numerous historical Citroën models, with the two concept cars REVOLTe and SportLounge as well as the range of current models the manufacturer showed an impressive overview of the brand along the tag line “Citroën yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

“Citroën had once more a good nose for an event where you can get in touch in a relaxed atmosphere with prospects and customers to join the brand,” says Bettina Schulze Vowinkel of Citroën Marketing. “The inner city center was a great combination of families, car and classic car enthusiasts – truly a success.”

The exhibition of historical models had been compiled in cooperation with Amicale Citroën Deutschland and the Citroën clubs. Stephan Joest confirmed the great success of the event: “The first Drive it-Day in Cologne showed the variety of vintage and “Youngtimer” classic car scene. The visitors were all very enthusiastic and rediscovered their childhood and youth day memories along the Citroën cars. It was a big family reunion and we look forward to 2013.”

The decision for the 2nd Drive it-Day next year is already taken. Romana Breuer from MAKK: “The overwhelming response by the many visitors and the great atmosphere this day hve inspired us. We will organize next year another Drive it Day, that’s for sure. Also we’d like to thank for the perfect cooperation with our sponsor Citroën.”

Grand rassemblent à 1er “Drive It-Day” à Cologne 2012

Environ 15.000 visiteurs au Musée des arts appliqués de Cologne (MAKK), des milliers de personnes autour parvis du musée, environ 2.000 voitures au milieu du centre historique de Cologne: la première “Drive it-Day” dans la ville de Cologne a été un succès retentissant. Citroën a également imposé comme une marque qui a toujours été synonyme de design exceptionnel, mis en tant que sponsor de l’événement très bien organisé.

CITROËN pourrait impressionnante présenter l’énorme puissance de la marque dans le passé, le présent et dans l’avenir. Avec de nombreux modèles Citroën historiques, avec le concept deux voitures REVOLTe et SportLounge ainsi que la gamme des modèles actuels du constructeur a montré un aperçu impressionnant de la marque le long de la ligne “Citroën hier, aujourd’hui et demain.”

“Citroën avait une fois de plus un bon nez pour un événement où vous pouvez entrer en contact dans une atmosphère détendue avec les prospects et clients à se joindre à la marque”, explique Bettina Schulze Vowinkel du marketing Citroën. “Le centre-ville était une grande combinaison de familles, de voitures et passionnés de voitures classiques – un véritable succès.”

L’exposition de modèles historiques ont été compilés en coopération avec l’Amicale Citroën Deutschland et les clubs Citroën. Stephan Joest a confirmé le grand succès de l’événement: “Le premier Drive It-Day à Cologne a montré la variété de des voitures anciennes et “Youngtimer” de la scène classique. Les visiteurs étaient tous très enthousiastes et ont redécouvert leur souvenirs d’enfance et de jeunesse jour le long des voitures Citroën. C’était une grande réunion de famille et nous nous réjouissons à 2013.”

La décision de la 2ème Drive It-Day de l’année prochaine est déjà pris. Mme. Dr. Romana Breuer de MAKK: “La réponse écrasante par les nombreux visiteurs et l’ambiance de cette journée nous a inspiré HVE. Citroën unterstützt als Hauptsponsor den ersten Drive it-Day in Deutschland, den das Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Köln (MAKK) am 29. April 2012 veranstaltet.

Historische und aktuelle Automobile mit besonderem Design und verschiedene Design-Objekte rund um das Thema Automobil werden sowohl im als auch rund um das Museum in der Kölner Innenstadt präsentiert. Ein besonderes Highlight ist die von Professor Paolo Tumminelli zusammengestellte Open-Air-Ausstellung historischer Design-Klassiker.

Als Automobilmarke, die mit Modellen wie der legendären DS und dem 2CV Designgeschichte geschrieben hat, ist Citroën geradezu prädestiniert, diesen Event zu unterstützen. So werden in Zusammenarbeit mit der Amicale Citroën Deutschland und den Citroën-Clubs Raritäten und Citroën Klassiker wie beispielsweise der Ami6, DS Chapron „Le Dandy“, Dyane, 2CV, SM, Méhari und GS auf dem Kölner Wallraffplatz vor dem Museum ausgestellt.

Aus dem Conservatoire, der Citroën eigenen Sammlung historischer Modelle in Paris, stammen diverse Design-Exponate und Skizzen; zudem zeigt Citroën mit dem REVOLTe und dem C-SportLounge zwei Concept Cars, die für futuristisches Design und die Zukunft der Marke stehen.

Die Citroën Deutschland GmbH und die Citroën Niederlassung Köln laden darüber hinaus zu Probefahrten mit den Modellen der aktuellen DS-Linie ein. Die Citroën DS-Modelle DS3, DS4 und DS5 stehen wie ihre „Vorfahren“ für Exklusivität und extravagantes Design und fügen sich somit perfekt in das Konzept des Drive it-Days ein.

Das Concept Car C-SportLounge wurde erstmalig auf der IAA 2005 in Frankfurt vorgestellt und steht mit seiner originellen Architektur für eine Neuinterpretation des Grand Tourisme-Konzeptes. Er vereint ein von Kraft und Aerodynamik geprägtes Äußeres mit einem Innenraum, der Fahrvergnügen für den Fahrer und Wohlbefinden für die Passagiere verspricht. Der C-SportLounge gab seinerzeit eine Vorschau auf den aktuellen Citroën DS5, der erst kürzlich in Deutschland eingeführt wurde.

Die Vorstellung des Concept Cars Citroën REVOLTe fand auf der IAA 2009 in Frankfurt statt. Der Stadtflitzer mit Plug-in-Hybrid-Antrieb steht für Mut und technischen Fortschritt. Gewagt und schick verbindet er Luxus mit unkonventionellem Stil und fortschrittliche Technik mit Glamour…”

Citroën showing automotive treasures at Cologne’s 1st Drive It-Day

Citroën is the main sponsor of the first Drive-it Day in Germany on 29 April 2012 which is organized by the Museum of Applied Art in Cologne (MAKK).

The C-SportLounge was the precedessor study to the latest Citroën DS5, which was recently introduced in Germany.

CITROËN ist Hauptsponsor beim ersten Drive it-Day, der am Sonntag, 29. April 2012 in Köln stattfindet. Veranstalter ist das Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAKK), das mit seiner bedeutenden Kunst- und Design-Sammlung einzigartig in Nordrhein-Westfalen ist. Am Veranstaltungstag sind Besitzer von Classic-Cars aufgerufen, mit ihren Fahrzeugen zum MAKK zu fahren und somit zu einer einzigartigen Auto-Design-Ausstellung beizutragen.

Citroën est le sponsor principal de la première “Drive it-Day” un jour qui aura lieu le dimanche 29 Avril 2012 à Cologne. L’evenement est organisée par le Musée des Arts Appliqués (“Museum für Angewandte Kunst, MAKK”), qui est unique avec son art majeur et collection de design de Rhénanie du Nord-Westphalie. Robert Opron ist Ehrenmitglied Citroën SM Club Deutschland / Citroën-Strasse

Der mit Spannung erwartete Technoclassica-Besuch des ehemaligen Chefdesigners von Citroën der Jahre 1962 bis 1976, Robert Opron, war ein voller Erfolg und hat international für viel Aufsehen gesorgt. Viele Citroën-Fans hatten sich auf diesen Besuch vorbereitet und standen Spalier, dem Stil-Verantwortlichen u.a. von Citroën SM, Citroën CX und Citroën GS ein Autogramm zu entlocken – und das nicht nur auf Papier, Poster und Biographien: selbst große Modellautos und eine komplette Fahrzeug-Heckklappe wurden angekarrt, um die markante Unterschrift des Zeichners, Skulpteurs und nunmehr 80-jährigen Meisters zu ergattern.

Eine kleine Zeremonie war der Höhepunkt des ansonsten recht informell gehaltenen Besuchsprogramms: Der Citroën SM Club Deutschland e.V. hat Robert Opron als Ehrenmitglied in den Club aufgenommen und ihm eine Ehrenmitglieds-Urkunde überreicht. Und getreu dem Motto “jeder besondere Mann ist nur so besonders wie die Frau, die hinter ihm steht” wurde das Ehepaar Geneviève und Robert Opron anschließend mit einer Ehrenurkunde der Citroën-Straße ausgezeichnet und damit ihr Engagement für die Marke und die Fans gewürdigt.

Doch lange hielt es Robert Opron nicht am Stand der “Citroën-Strasse”. Schon bald war er unterwegs, um bei den vielen Marken und Herstellern klassischer Automobile erneut Details zu studieren und Karosserieformen in Ausführung und Stil zu analysieren. Bei der Besichtigung des Citroën-Markenstands in Halle 4, der in diesem Jahr unter dem Motto “Citroën und die Kunst” stand, erinnerte sich Robert Opron an viele Details seiner früheren Arbeit und die Designphasen, die den jeweiligen Entwürfen zugrunde lagen. Mit Blick auf die letzte Version des DS-Kotflügels mit den lenkbaren Scheinwerfern, die 1967 eingeführt wurde, erzählte Opron beispielsweise nicht nur von den technischen Vorteilen einer solchen Konstruktion, sondern auch mit den deutlich gesenkten Produktionskosten, die nur noch einen Bruchteil der früheren Kosten der alten, freistehenden Scheinwerfer betrugen.

Auch wenn Opron bereits vor Jahrzehnten aus dem Unternehmen bzw. dem Berufsleben ausgeschieden ist, so ist sein Schaffenswerk bei weitem noch nicht beendet. Ständig ist der Meister der Karosserielinien dabei, neue Entwürfe für Fahrzeuge zu erarbeiten, die beispielsweise Wert auf Einsteigekomfort und Bequemlichkeit, große Rundumsicht, klare Linien und vor allem ansprechendes Design legen. Wir hoffen, daß seine Kreativität noch lange erhalten bleibt, danken noch einmal für den Besuch und wünschen ihm und uns noch viele aktive Jahre – und hoffen natürlich, ihn bald wieder bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen!

Robert Opron now Honorary Member of Citroën SM Club Deutschland / Citroën-Strasse

The much-anticipated Technoclassica visit of Robert Opron, former chief designer of the Citroën era between 1962 to 1976, was a resounding success and has caused quite a stir internationally. Many Citroën enthusiasts had prepared for this visit and were standing guard of honor to welcome the responsible for the design of Citroën SM, Citroën CX and Citroën GS and anxiously wait for an autograph – and not just on paper, posters and biographies: even large model cars and a complete vehicle tailgate were presented to receive the distinctive signature of the signer, skulpteur and now 80-year-old master of famous Citroën design.

A small ceremony was the highlight of an otherwise fairly informally held visiting agenda: The Citroën SM Club Germany has awarded Robert Opron as Honorary Member of the club and handed him a membership certificate. And true to the motto “every outstanding man is just as outstanding as the woman behind him” the couple and thus also his wife Geneviève Opron were subsequently awarded an Honorary Member certificate by the “Citroën-Strasse” club association in recognition of the Opron’s commitment and dedication to the brand and the fans.

However Robert Opron’s presence was not fixed to the booth of “Citroën-Strasse”. As more than 2.500 cars were on display at Technoclassica, soon he was on his way to re-study the details of vehicles of of classic and modern automobiles and analyze body shapes in design and style. During the visit of the Citroën booth in Hall 4, this year’s subject “Citroën and the Arts”, said Robert Opron recalled many details of his earlier work and the design phases he has been involved into. With regard to the latest version of the DS front wing with the steerable headlamps, which was introduced in 1967, Opron reported, for example, not only about the technical advantages of such a structure, but also with the significantly reduced production costs which were only a fraction of previous costs for the former generation which incorporated the still free-standing headlamps.

Although Opron had left Citroën and terminated his professional works decades ago, his activities have not finished by far. Constantly the master of the body lines is active and develops new designs for cars, for example, putting the emphasis on comfort and convenience of access, great visibility, clean lines and most of all appealing design. We hope that his creativity is preserved for a long time, thank you again for visiting and we wish him and us many active years – and certainly hope to see both Geneviève and Robert Opron soon again here in Germany!

Membre d’Honneur: Robert et Geneviève Opron

La visite tant attendue de la Technoclassica de Robert Opron, ancien designer en chef de Citroën entre 1962 et 1976, a été un succès retentissant et a causé tout un émoi international. Beaucoup de fans de Citroën avait préparé pour cette visite et montaient la garde d’honneur pour le styliste responsable de Citroën SM, Citroën CX et Citroën GS, pour obtenir un autographe – et pas seulement sur papier, des affiches et des biographies: même les voitures grand modèle et un hayon arrière du véhicule complet ont été transportés à Essen pour une signature distinctive du skulpteur Opron.

Une petite cérémonie était le point culminant d’un programme par ailleurs assez informelle tenue la visite: Robert Opron est baptisé “Membre d’Honneur” du Citroën SM Club Deutschland et le club lui a remis un certificat. Et fidèle à la devise “chaque homme en particulier est tout aussi spéciale que la femme debout derrière lui,” le couple Geneviève et Robert Opron a également reçu un certificat honorifique de la “Citroën-Strasse” en reconnaissance de son engagement envers la marque et les fans.

Cependant de temps Robert Opron il n’était pas fixé sur le stand de “Citroën-Strasse”. Bientôt, il était sur son chemin de ré-étudier les nombreuses marques et fabricants de détails automobiles classiques et modernes, et d’analyser les formes du corps dans la conception et le style. Lors de la visite du stand de Citroën dans le Hall 4, le thème de cette année “Citroën et l’art”, Robert Opron a rappelé de nombreux détails de ses travaux antérieurs et les phases de conception, qui ont été fondées sur les plans respectifs. En ce qui concerne la dernière version de l’aile DS avec les nouvelles phares a direction qui a été introduit en 1967, Opron a dit, par exemple, non seulement des avantages techniques d’une telle structure, mais aussi avec les coûts de production réduit de façon significative, étaient seulement une fraction des coûts précédents phares fixes.

Bien que Opron a quitté il ya quelques décennies à la vie professionel pour la société Citroën, son etudes ne sont pas terminé. Comment (et pourqoi!?) arreter un innovateur? Constamment le maître des lignes du corps est de développer de nouveaux designs pour les voitures, par exemple, a mis l’accent sur le confort et la commodité de l’embarquement, une grande visibilité, des lignes épurées et surtout design attrayant. Nous espérons que sa créativité est préservée pendant longtemps.

Auch jenseits des Atlantiks ist gibt es eine sehr aktive Szene von Citroën-Fans, die sich seit Jahrzehnten um den Erhalt ihrer Automobile kümmern. Das nordamerikanische Online-Magazin “CITROENVIE!” berichtet 4x im Jahr von dem Engagement auf der anderen Seite des großen Teichs – und für die Amerikaner und Kanadier auch darüber, was sich bei uns in Europa tut.

Die neueste Online-Ausgabe von “CITROENVIE” berichtet unter anderem über Art Blakesley, den ehemaligen Direktor der “Advance Studios” von PSA Citroën zwischen 1994 und 2000, den Einfluss von Citroën SM auf Maserati Bora und Maserati Merak, warum ein 2CV in Paris in der 2. Etage durch ein Fenster gehievt wurde und nun die Firmenzentrale eines der bedeutendsten Internet-Unternehmen schmückt, und stellt eine DS-Kaufberatung vor.

Ehemaliger Citroën Chef-Designer Opron zu Besuch auf der Technoclassica

Pressemitteilung der CITROËN DEUTSCHLAND GmbH:

„Citroën und die Kunst“ lautet das Motto von Citroën auf der diesjährigen Techno-Classica. Passend zu diesem Motto wird am Samstag, den 24. März 2012, der ehemalige Chef-Designer Robert Opron auf dem Messestand der Citroën Deutschland GmbH (Halle 4.1) sowie auf der „Citroën Straße“ der deutschen Citroën Clubs (Halle 9.1) erwartet.

Möglich gemacht wurde der Besuch Oprons – des „Grandseigneurs“ des Citroën Designs in den 60er und 70er Jahren – durch die guten Kontakte der Amicale Citroën Deutschland. Zu den wesentlichen Werken seiner Zeit bei Citroën zählen die neue Frontpartie des Citroën DS, der Citroën Ami8, der Citroën GS und der Citroën CX. Als spektakulär gilt seine Design-Kreation des Citroën SM.

Darüber hinaus hat Citroën in Bezug auf das Motto „Citroën und die Kunst“ vier Kunstdruck-Motive im Poster-Format entworfen. Durch die Teilnahme an einem Gewinnspiel können die Messe- besucher – solange der Vorrat reicht – einen der exklusiven Poster-Kunstdrucke gewinnen. Die Motive orientieren sich an den auf dem Citroën Stand ausgestellten Fahrzeugen Citroën Rosalie, DS, 2 CV und DS5. Die Marke spannt somit einen künstlerischen Bogen von den 30er über die 50er und 70er Jahre bis in die Neuzeit.

Former Citroën Head of Design Robert Opron visiting Technoclassica

The official press release of Citroën Germany, our translation:

“Citroen and the arts” is the slogan of Citroën on this year’s Technoclassica. In relation to this theme, on Saturday 24 March 2012 the former Head of Design Robert Opron will visit the booth of Citroën Germany as well as the “Citroën-Strasse” booth of all German Citroen clubs.

The visit of the “Grandseigneur” of Citroën design of the 60s and 70s has been made possible by the good relationships of Amicale Citroën Deutschland. Major Works of Opron during his works at Citroën comprise the new Citroën DS front, the Citroën Ami8, the Citroën GS and the Citroën CX. As spectacular his creation of the Citroën SM is being perceived.

On top, with respect to “Citroën and the arts” Citroën Germany has issued four art prints in poster size. By participation at a lottery all Technoclassica visitors can win one of these very limited edition prints. The motives are along the cars which are being presented at the Citroën booth – Citroën Rosalie, Citroën DS, Citroën 2CV and Citroën DS5. By this the brand bridges the 30s, 50s and 70s up to the current era.

Ancien chef du Bureau d’Etudes de Citroën Robert Opron a visiter la Technoclassica

“Citroen et l’art” est la devise de Citroën à la foire Techno-Classica. En accord avec ce thème le samedi, 24 Mars 2012, la visite de l’ancien designer en chef du Bureau d’Etudes Robert Opron sur le stand de Citroën Deutschland GmbH (Hall 4.1) et sur le stand de la “Citroën-Strasse” des clubs Citroën allemandes (Hall 9.1) est prévu.

La visite de M. Opron – le “grand seigneur” du style Citroën dans les années 60 et 70 – a été faite possible sur base des bons contacts de l’Amicale Citroën Deutschland. Les oeuvres majeures de son temps à Citroën sont pour example la partie avant de la Citroën DS, la Citroën Ami8, la Citroën GS et la Citroën CX. Spectaculaire que son design est la création de la Citroën SM.

En plus de la devise “Citroën et l’art”, Citroën aussi á conçu quatre images d’art en taille poster. En participant à une loterie les visiteurs du salon – la limite des stocks – peuvent gagner un imprimés serie limitée exclusifs d’art. Les dessins sont sur basés de la Citroën Rosalie, DS, 2CV et DS5. La marque a ainsi engendré un spectre sur le plan artistique des années 30 sur les années 50 et 70 jusqu’aux temps modernes.

Technoclassica 2012: 25 Jahre Citroën SM Club / Citroën auf Welttreffen – herzlich willkommen!

Vom 21.-25. März 2012 öffnet zum 24. Mal die weltgrößte Messe für Oldtimer, Classic Automobile, Youngtimer, Motorräder, Ersatzteile und Restaurierung in Essen/Ruhr ihre Tore. Unter dem unter dem Leitspruch “Only the best…” präsentieren rund 1.200 Aussteller ihr Angebot in 20 Messehallen und Freigeländen, und über 2.500 Fahrzeuge stehen zum Verkauf. Es werden mehr als 180.000 Besucher erwartet.

Superlative auch bei den Meldungen der Oldtimer-, Young-Classics- und Marken-Clubs: Mehr als 200 Vereinigungen von Besitzern von Liebhaber- fahrzeugen werden sich und ihre Dienstleistungen mit meist phantasievoll gestalteten Ständen bei der TECHNO-CLASSICA präsentieren – und die Klassik-Messe auch 2012 zum weltgrößten Treffen und Podium für Klassiker-Clubs machen.

Und mitten drin ist auch wieder die “Citroën-Strasse”. An gewohnter Stelle in Halle 9.1 (oben) präsentieren sich die deutschen Citroën-Clubs mit zwei grossen Themen:

der Citroën SM Club Deutschland e.V. feiert sein 25-jähriges Jubiläum und präsentiert in diesem Zusammenhang nicht nur den “Grand Tourisme”, das prestigeträchtige Sportcoupé, das in nur 12.920 Exemplaren zwischen 1970-1975 gebaut wurde, sondern auch einen einzigartigen Rennwagen, der 1972 und 1973 auf Basis des SM zum Einsatz kam, und nun aus dem berühmten “Conservatoire”, der Werkssammlung des Herstellers, zu uns kommt.

Dieser SM wurde als “Gruppe V-Prototyp” unter Björn Waldegaard 1972 auf der TAP-Rallye in Portugal 3. in der Gesamtwertung der Rallye.

1973 wurde dieser Wagen unter den Piloten Guy Verrier/ Georges Umbricht 6. der Gesamtwertung auf der “Bandmaß”-Rallye,die auch als “Elfenbeinküsten-Marathon” hierzulande bekannt ist und offiziell unter dem Namen “5ème Rallye du Bandama Marathon de Côte d’Ivoire” lief.

An 5. Stelle lag ein identischer SM des Teams Bob Neyret/Terramorsi und an 3. Stelle ging ein Gruppe II-DS23 mit Bochnicek/Kaja durchs Ziel. Von den 73 gestarteten Fahrzeugen kamen gerade einmal acht (!) ins Ziel dieser rund 4.000 Kilometer langen Rallye, die vom 28.-30. Dezember 1973 ausgetragen wurde.

Folgende Werksteams traten damals an:

* Datsun mit einem 240Z (255PS), zwei 180BSSS (175PS), 1600SSS (125PS und 150 PS).

* Peugeot 504 Gr2 (180PS + 140PS), 504 Gr1

* Citroën: DS23 Gr2 (175PS), zwei SM Proto (250PS) und einem GS Gr2 (80PS).

* Renault: R17 TS (155PS), einem Alpine 1800 Gr4, und R16 TS

Privatfahrer waren mit Citroen DS23, Saab96, Porsche, Opel Ascona, Simca 1100 ti, Volvo, Lancia Beta, Datsun 240Z, Renault R12, Peugeot 504 und Fiat 128 unterwegs – man möchte aufgrund dieser doch sehr heterogenen Zusammenstellung am liebsten gern dabei gewesen sein!

Technische Daten des ausgestellten “SM Bandama”: Maserati V6-Motor, 2.990 ccm, 250 PS bei 7000/min, 5-Gang, 1210kg, L=4,35m, B=1,85m, H=1,32m

Sicherlich ist dieser Wagen ein ganz besonderes Schmankerl für Technik-Fans, und diejenigen, die sich für nicht elektronisch geregelte Technologien auf Basis grandioser “konventioneller” Ingenieursleistungen begeistern können, und ein Faible für Rallye-Sport haben.

Und auch die übrige Standfläche steht in diesem Jahr wieder unter einem besonderen Motto:

Die restlichen Clubs präsentieren unter dem Leitthema “Legendär – die Citroën-Welttreffen” eine Retrospektive über die Fahrzeuge der letzten Jahrzehnte, die beispielsweise auf den ICCCR (International Citroën Car Club Rally) zu finden waren. Die ICCCR gelten als das “Mekka” für Citroën-Fans, treffen sich doch hier abertausende von Fahrzeugen alle vier Jahre und zelebrieren die Erfolgsgeschichte des 1919 gestarteten Unternehmens.

In diesem Jahr ist ein solches ICCCR-Welttreffen im englischen Yorkshire geplant. Die Veranstalter werden ihren Event bei uns präsentieren und laden alle herzlich ein, noch von den günstigen Frühbucherrabatten zu profitieren. Auch im nächsten Jahr wird eine weitere Großveranstaltung stattfinden – das 20. 2CV-Welttreffen findet im nordspanischen Alcañiz statt. Die Organisatoren werden als besondere Gäste auf dem Stand der Amicale Citroën Deutschland ihre Veranstaltung vorstellen.

Und natürlich stehen auch wieder ganz besondere Fahrzeuge auf dem Clubstand der Citroën-Strasse:

Wir erwarten ein ganz seltenes Exemplar eines rechtsgelenkten 1939 Traction Avant Roadster (Cabriolets) aus englischer Produktion – in Slough/UK wurden eigens Fahrzeuge hergestellt, um den besonderen Geschmack der englischen Käuferschichten zu bedienen. Da mindestens 51% aller Teile an diesen Slough-Fabrikaten aus englischer Produktion stammen, ließ sich die “Import Tax” umgehen und so sich ein Citroën auch preislich attraktiv auf der Insel vermarkten.

Auch ein “göttlicher” Citroën ID19 Safari von 1964 wird über den Kanal zu uns kommen. Unter dem Namen “Safari” vermarktete Citroën in England die Kombimodelle (in Frankreich als “Break” bekannt).

Die Dyane IG, die im letzten Jahr in Deutschland erstmals die Interessen für die “Schwester” des 2CV vertritt, präsentiert eine sehr seltene 2-Fenster-”Commerciale”-Version des Typs “Dyane 6” vom Baujahr 1968. Die Dyane feiert in diesem Jahr ihr 45-jähriges Jubiläum, sie erschien erstmals 1967.

Noch ein weiterer Jubilar ist in diesem Jahr wieder zu sehen – 80 Jahre wird die Rosalie alt und päsentiert sich bei uns im alten Glanz.

einer der begehrtesten Youngtimer, der CX, wird auf der “Citroën-Strasse” als Kombimodell präsent sein. Wir zeigen einen CX 2000 Super Break in exzellentem Zustand, der zugleich der älteste in Deutschland zugelassene Citroën CX Break ist. Der CX Kombi war für viele nicht nur ein Großraum-Transporter für Familien und Betriebe, sondern auf unzähligen Citroën-Treffen als “Schlafmobil” anzutreffen.

ein weiterer Traction Avant aus der Nachkriegszeit (die Gangsterlimousine wurde von 1934-1957 gebaut) wird “on show” sein. Der 11CV ist von Citroën-Treffen nicht wegzudenken.

Robert Opron

In diesem Jahr erwarten wir einen ganz besonderen Ehrengast auf unserem Stand: Robert Opron, Chefdesigner von Citroën, dem wir den Entwurf des SM, CX und GS zu verdanken haben, wird uns am Wochenende auf der Citroën-Strasse besuchen. Wir freuen uns ganz besonders, den “Grandseigneur” des Marken-Images von Citroën mit seiner Frau Geneviève Opron erneut bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen – er wird begleitet von den Ausstellungsmachern der EXPO BERTONI, Patrick André und Rosemarie Gumz, deren Design-Ausstellung des Leben und Werk von Flaminio Bertoni, Oprons Vorgänger, in Teilen auf dem Stand von Citroën in Halle 4 zu sehen sein wird.

Ein weiteres Highlight wird die Anwesenheit von Zeichnern bekannter Oldtimer-Comics aus dem Eckart Schott Verlag sein, die auf dem Stand der Citroën-Strasse ihre Arbeiten präsentieren. Wir freuen uns, daß berühmte Comics wie “die Bande der Weindiebe” nun endlich ein Gesicht bekommen, und wir “die Macher dahinter” bei ihrer Arbeit begleiten können!

Wir erwarten zudem noch Gäste der “Amitié des Françaises de Düsseldorf e.V.“. Dies ist eine Vereinigung von ca. 300 Frauen, Französinnen und französisch sprechenden Frauen, die in Düsseldorf und in der Region Düsseldorf leben. Ziel der Amitié ist die Förderung eines deutsch-französischen Austauschs durch vielseitige Treffen und Veranstaltungen – et voilá: bienvenue à chez nous!

Die Amicale Citroën Deutschland wird am Samstag, den 24. März 2012 ihre Jahreshauptversammlung abhalten, und lädt alle Clubs und ihre Vorstände ein, sich ab 18h über das anstehende ICCCR-Jahr, das 2CV-Welttreffen 2013 und neues aus der Citroën-Szene zu informieren, sowie die neuen Delegierten für Deutschland zu wählen.

Auch die Citroën Deutschland GmbH informiert über die anstehende Weltmesse und ihren Stand:

“…Mit einem außergewöhnlichen Thema beschäftigt sich Citroën Deutschland in diesem Jahr auf der Technoclassica: “Citroën im Zeichen der Kunst” lautet das Motto des Standes von Citroën Deutschland in Halle 4. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Conservatoire Citroën in Aulnay-sur-Bois, dem “Firmengedächtnis” mit einer Sammlung von mehr als 400 historischen Citroën und großem Archiv im Norden von Paris, erarbeitet Citroën Deutschland derzeit eine attraktive Präsentation von künstlerischen Darstellungen historischer Citroën-Automobile.

Dabei geht es nicht nur um zweidimensionale Kunstwerke, sprich Gemälde, Zeichnungen und Fotos, sondern auch um die Erinnerung an kunstvolle dreidimensionale Präsentationen von Automobilen mit dem Doppelwinkel im Markenzeichen. Beispiele dafür gibt es in der Geschichte reichlich, unter anderem auf dem Pariser Automobilsalon des Jahres 1962, als ein hochkant aufgehängter Citroën DS, die “Fusée” (Rakete), dort Furore machte. Oder die spektakuläre Inszenierung des DS im Jahr 1959 auf vier großen Luftballons anstelle der Räder, um den Federungskomfort zu symbolisieren.

Welche Art und Form der Präsentation Citroën auf der Technoclassica bieten wird, darüber hüllt sich Citroën Deutschland noch in Schweigen. “Wir haben so viele Möglichkeiten, aber der Raum ist nun einmal begrenzt, sodass wir an den Details gemeinsam mit den Clubs noch feilen” erklärt Stephan Lützenkirchen, Direktor Presse und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit von Citroën Deutschland.

Dazu feiern die Franzosen ein Jubiläum: Vor 80 Jahren, ab Oktober 1932, wurde die Citroën Rosalie als Typen 8CV, 10CV und 15CV gebaut. Auch nachdem das Nachfolgemodell, der legendäre Traction Avant, bereits im Jahr 1934 eingeführt wurde, gab es die Rosalie noch ein weiteres Jahr als offenen Zweisitzer, Limousine bis hin zum Lieferwagen mit Kasten- oder Pritschenaufbau, und die legendäre “Petite Rosalie” stellte 1933 mit ihrer 300.000km Weltrekordfahrt über 190 nationale und 100 internationale Rekorde auf.

Die Brücke zur Moderne schlägt schließlich der nagelneue Citroën DS5, der mit seinem Hybrid 4-Antrieb (Dieselmotor für die Vorderachse und Elektromotor für die Hinterachse) die Citroën-Tradition fortsetzt, avantgardistische Autos zu bauen.

Welcome to Citroën-Strasse at Technoclassica 2012!

For the 24th time, from March 21-25 2012 world’s largest fair for classic cars, “oldtimer” and youngtimer, motorcycles, spare parts and restoration in Essen / Ruhr opens its doors. Of course, all 1,200 exhibition booths in the 20 exhibition halls and on the open-air grounds of the Essen Trade Fair are fully booked. With more than 2,500 collector’s automobiles, vintage cars, classic and young classic cars on sale, the organiser of TECHNO-CLASSICA, S.I.H.A., can offer the expected 180,000 visitors more than just the world’s largest range of fancy vehicles, themed “Only the best…”: also in 2012, the TECHNO-CLASSICA will again be the world’s largest historic show of the international automobile manufacturers.

And right in the middle of the fair is again the “Citroën-Strasse”. At its usual location in Hall 9.1 (upper level), the association of all German Citroën clubs presents two major topics:

the Citroën SM Club Germany celebrates its 25th anniversary and presents in this context not only the “Grand Tourisme”, that prestigious sports coupe from which only 12.920 copies were built between 1970-1975, but also a unique prototype which is known as the “1973 SM Rallye Bandama”, from the famous “Conservatoire,” the heritage collection of the manufacturer.
Driven by Björn Waldegaard, this group V prototype finished third overall in the 1972 TAP Rally in Portugal. In the 1973 Bandama Rally – still known as the Ivory Coast Marathon – it was driven by the Verrier-Umbricht team and came in sixth behind an identical SM driven by Neyret-Terramorsi (5th) and the group II DS23 of Bochnicek-Kaja (3rd). Of the seventy three cars that started the rally, only eight arrived at the finishing line 4,000 kilometres later, having overcome all kinds of obstacles.

Depending on the demands, top speeds achieved were in the range between 240km/h up to 255km/h. …

Surely this unique rolling prototyping platform is a very special object for studies not only for Citroën fans, but also for those who prefer the “conventional” to the electronically controlled technologies, and which are the results from thorough and innovative mechanical engineering services at a time when no PC was available to dimension this complexity of installation.

Also the rest of the Citroën-Strasse booth space this year is again under a particular theme:

Following the slogan “The Legendary Citroën World Meetings”, the other clubs will present a retrospective of the vehicles from the last decades which could be found at various Citroën meetings, for example at the ICCCR (International Citroen Car Club Rally). The ICCCR are considered being the “Mecca” where Citroën enthusiasts meet, as thousands of Citroën and Panhard vehicles are coming together every four years and celebrate the success story of a company’s product line which started in 1919.
This year, the ICCCR world meeting will take place in Yorkshire, England. At Citroën-Strasse, the organizers will present their event with us and invite all of you to still benefit from the favorable early booking discounts. Also next year will be another major event for Citroën enthusiasts – the 20th 2CV World Meeting will be held in the northern Spanish city of Alcañiz. The organizers will present their event as special guests of Amicale Citroën Deutschland.

And of course, are again very special vehicles at the Citroën-Strasse booth:

We expect a very rare version of a right-hand drive Traction Avant 1939 roadster (cabriolet) made in England. Citroën had set up some production facilities in Slough / UK to produce vehicles which meet the rather particular taste of potential English buyers. Since at least 51% of all parts of this Slough-built Citroën are made in England, the manufacturer could avoid the “import tax” and thus sell the rather unfamiliar French cars at an attractive price on the island.

Also, the “goddess” Citroën ID19 Safari 1964 will arrive from across the channel. Under the name “Safari” Citroën marketed in England the estate models (in France sold as “Break”).

The Dyane IG, which represents since the last year in Germany the interests of the “sister” of the 2CV, presents a very rare two-window “Dyane 6 Commerciale Confort” from 1968. The Dyane this year celebrates its 45th anniversary, as it was sold from 1967.

Yet another birthday can be celebrated this year – the famous Rosalie will be presented in its former glory.

One of the most sought-after classic newcomer cars, the CX will be present at the “Citroën-Strasse” booth as a station wagon. We will feature a “CX 2000 Super Break” in excellent condition which is also the oldest known existing Citroën CX Break station wagon in Germany. The CX Break was for many not only a large-capacity transporter for families and businesses, but could be found on countless Citroën meeting as a “rolling sleeping bag”.

Another Traction Avant from the postwar period (the “gangster limousine” was built 1934-1957) will be “on show”. The 11CV is an inseparable part of Citroën’s meeting.

This year we are expecting a very special guest of honor at our booth: Robert Opron, chief designer of Citroen, which we owe the design of the SM, the CX and GS, will visit us during the weekend at our booth. We are especially pleased to welcome the “grand master” of Citroën’s perception in the 60s and 70s again with his wife Genevieve Opron. He will be accompanied by the exhibition organizers of EXPO BERTONI, Patrick André and Rosemarie Gumz, whose design exhibition of life and work of the also famous Flaminio Bertoni, Opron’s predecessor, can be seen in parts at the Citroën booth in Hall 4.

Another highlight will be the presence of cartoonist of vintage comics from the publisher Eckart Schott. We are delighted to see that famous comics such as “Le Gang des Pinardiers” is finally getting a face, and you will get to know “the brains behind”!

We also welcome members of the “Amitié des Françaises de Düsseldorf” which is a non-profit organisation of ca. 300 women, French origin or French speaking ladies who live in or around Dusseldorf. As we have set up initial contacts at the Dusseldorf French festival last summer, we jointly planned to intensify our relationships and certainly will have a good time at our Citroën-Strasse “bistrot”…

The Amicale Citroën Deutschland will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 24 March 2012 and invites all clubs and their presidents to get informed on the upcoming ICCCR event, the 2CV World Meeting 2013 and listen to latest news from Citroën, as well as to elect the new Delegates for ACI in Germany.

But there’s more to come – also the German subsidiary of Citroën has released a press notice, translation by ACI-D S. Joest:

“… Citroën Germany this year will present a quite extraordinary offering at the Techno Classica fair: “Citroën and arts” is the tagline of the booth of Hall 4. In cooperation with the Citroën Conservatoire in Aulnay-sur-Boin, the “corporate memory” with a collection of more than 400 historic Citroën vehicles and large archives in the north of Paris, Citroën Germany is currently preparing an attractive presentation of artistic depictions of historical Citroën automobiles.

It’s not just about two-dimensional works of art, eg. paintings, drawings and photos, but also about the memory of elaborate three-dimensional presentations of automobiles with the “double chevron” trademark. There are examples in the history abundantly, among others at the Paris Motor Show of 1962, as a vertically suspended Citroën DS, the famous “Fusée” (rocket), was presented. Also many remember the spectacular performance of the DS in 1959 on four balloons on water instead of wheels to symbolize the hydropneumatic suspension comfort.

Citroën Germany still keeps it’s presentation a big secret. “We have so many choices, but space is limited even now, so we are working on the details with the clubs as we speak” said Stephan Lützenkirchen, Press and Public Relations Director of Citroën Germany.

And there is another anniversary to celebrate this year: 80 years ago, in October 1932, the Citroën Rosalie was presented as types 8, 10 and 15. Even though it’s successor, the legendary Traction Avant, was introduced in 1934, the Rosalie was produced yet another year in many variants, eg. as an open two-seater, coach, limousine, van with box or flatbed, and many people will remember the legendary “Petite Rosalie” which set in 1933 over 190 national and 100 international records in her 300.000km round trip at Montlhéry.

The gap to the present is bridged by the brand-new Citroën DS5 with it’s Hybrid-4 propulsion technology (Diesel engine for the front axle and electric motor for the rear axle), which continues to present the Citroën tradition to build avant-garde cars.

As in previous years, Citroën Germany is working closely with the Citroën clubs. In addition to the presentation of Citroёn Germany the clubs will present at the “Citroën-Strasse”, the Association of all German Citroën clubs, a great offering along 400 square meters in Hall 9.1, this year focusing on “25 Years of Citroën SM Club Germany” and a retrospective on the legendary Citroën world meetings…

Bienvenue à Citroën-Strasse à Technoclassica 2012!

Pour la 24e fois, à partir de 21-25 Mars 2012 le plus grand salon mondial pour les voitures classiques, “oldtimer” et Youngtimer, motos, pièces de rechange et de restauration ouvre ses portes à Essen/Ruhr. Bien sûr, tous les 1200 stands d’exposition dans les 20 halls d’exposition et sur les areals de plein air de salon d’Essen sont complets. Avec automobiles plus de 2.500 de collection, voitures anciennes, classiques et les jeunes autos en vente, l’organisateur de Techno-Classica, SIHA, peut offrir les 180.000 visiteurs attendus plus que la plus grande gamme de véhicules de l’ancienne, sur le thème “Seul le meilleur…”: aussi en 2012, le Techno-Classica sera encore une fois le plus grand salon mondial historique des fabricants internationaux d’automobiles.

Et dans le milieu est à nouveau le “Citroën-Strasse”. A son emplacement habituel dans le hall 9.1 (niveau supérieur), l’association de tous les clubs Citroën allemandes présentent deux grands thèmes:

le “Citroën SM Club Deutschland e.V.” célèbre son 25e anniversaire et va presenter pas seulement ce coupé sport prestigieux ou 12.920 exemplaires ont été construits entre 1970-1975, mais aussi un prototype unique pour la “Rallye Bandama” en 1973, à partir du fameux “Conservatoire”, la collection du patrimoine du mannufacteur Citroën.

Piloté par Björn Waldegaard, ce prototype groupe V termine 3e au classement général du Rallye TAP du Portugal 1972. Confié ensuite à l’équipage Verrier-Umbricht, il termine 6e du Rallye Bandama 1973 – encore appelé le Marathon de la Côte d’Ivoire – derrière une SM identique confié à Neyret-Terramorsi (5e) et la DS23 groupe II de Bochnicek-Kaja (3e). Sur soixante-treize voitures au départ, huit seulement sont à l’arrivée après 4000 kilomètres d’épreuves de toute sorte.

Certainement, cette plate-forme de prototypage unique est un objet très spécial pour les études, non seulement pour les fans de Citroën, mais aussi pour ceux qui préfèrent la “technologie classique” qui n’est pas un objêt de contrôle électronique, emais qui est le résultat de recherche approfondies et des services innovants d’ingénierie mécanique à un moment quand l’ordinateur PC n’était disponible pour calculer cette complexité de l’installation.

Et le reste de l’espace stand “Citroën-Strasse” cette année est à nouveau sous un thème particulier:
- Après le slogan “Les légendaires rencontres mondiales Citroën”, les autres clubs présentera une rétrospective des véhicules à partir des dernières décennies, qui pourrait être trouvé lors des réunions Citroën divers, par exemple à l’ICCCR (International Citroën Club Rally). Les ICCCR sont considérés comme étant la “Mecque” où les amateurs de Citroën sont bienvenues, alors que des milliers de véhicules Citroën et Panhard se réunissent tous les quatre ans et va célébrer le succès de la gamme de produits d’une entreprise qui a débuté en 1919.

“… Citroën en Allemagne cette année présentera une offre tout à fait extraordinaire à la foire Techno Classica: “Citroën et l’art “est le slogan du stand du Hall 4. (English below, Francais au-dessous) Das “C-Forum”, eine internationale Website und Forum von Citroen-Fans, hat in Zusammenarbeit mit Automobiles Citroën ein ganz besonderes Fotoshooting initiiert – zusammen mit dem SM Club de France entstand eine einmalige Bilderserie mit SM Opera (erkennbar an den 4 Türen) und SM Cabriolet.

Die beeindruckende und zugleich zeitlose Silhouette der Concorde kombiniert mit dem Citroën DS5 und den SM stellt für Fans der Marke eine wunderschöne Kombination dar – und eignet sich wunderbar als Hintergrundbild für den heimischen Computer…

(english text below) Wer bislang für sich oder andere noch kein passendes Weihnachtsgeschenk gefunden hat, wird vielleicht hier noch kurzfristig fündig – hier mein Tip des Tages:

In Kleinserie werden bei “Société Saint Hubert 92″ seit nunmehr vier Jahrzehnten besondere Umbauten von Modellautos gefertigt: “La haute couture de la miniature”. Diese werden zumeist auf Basis von JRD, C.I.J, Automictoys, D.T.F, Norev, Dinky und anderen bekannten Herstellern realisiert.

For those of you who have not yet found a nice Christmas gift for either yourself or a friend, a place I recommend to check out is the miniature production of “St Hubert 92″.

Located at the Paris suburbs, this manufacturer of “La haute couture de la miniature” has focused on an interesting niche: creating a stunning variety of miniatures and model cars from eg. advertisements, local shops, famous French brands or other typical daily environments from the recent decades.

The models are mainly built in 1:43 but recently St.Hubert has started to offer also 1:18 versions. The modifications are realized in resin, and are based on JRD, CIJ, Norev, Dinky or other toy manufacturers.

Staatsbesuch auf der TechnoClassica: Der Citroën SM des Elysée-Palastes gibt sich die Ehre

Neben dem Stand der deutschen Citroën-Clubs ist auch die Citroën GmbH auf der Messe präsent. Und die Kölner haben echte Highlights aus dem Conservatoire vorbereitet.

Mit einem echten Stargast kann der Citroën-Stand auf der TechnoClassica 2010, die am 7. April eröffnet wird, aufwarten. Als Leihgabe des Elysée-Palastes wird eines der beiden großen Cabrios vom Typ SM „Présidentielle“ zu sehen sein, mit denen seit 1972 hohe Staatsgäste wie die britische Königin in offiziellen Paraden über die Champs-Elysées gefahren wurden…

Das von Chapron karossierte, 5,60 Meter lange viertürige und viersitzige Cabriolet ist sicherlich die exklusivste Ausführung des vielleicht extravagantesten Modells der Markengeschichte von Citroën. Der 1970 auf dem Genfer Salon vorgestellte SM war ein Grand-Tourisme-Coupé mit einem V6-Benzinmotor, der von Maserati entwickelt wurde, und galt sofort nach seinem Erscheinen als ein automobiles Gegenstück zur Concorde und als nationales Symbol. Mit seinen hinter einer verglasten Front liegenden sechs Schweinwerfern, von denen zwei in Kurven mitlenkten, seiner extrem aerodynamischen Form, seiner geschwindigkeitsabhängigen Servolenkung, die sich selbst automatisch in die Mittellage zurückstellte, und seinem hydropneumatischen Fahrwerk, dessen Hinterachse eine fast 20 cm schmalere Spur als die Vorderachse aufwies, war der SM für schnelle, komfortable Autobahnreisen perfektioniert.

Der GS

Aber dieses faszinierende Auto war nur eines von drei komplett neu entwickelten Fahrzeugen, die Citroën 1970 auf den Markt brachte – für damalige Verhältnisse eine sensationelle Demonstration von „Créative Technologie“, wie der heutige Slogan der Marke lautet. Nur ein halbes Jahr nach dem SM, auf dem Pariser Salon 1970, stellte Citroën mit dem GS das lang erwartete Mittelklassemodell vor, das die Lücke zwischen dem 2CV und davon abgeleiteten Modellen einerseits und der legendären DS andererseits schloss.

Und auch der komplett neu entwickelte GS war eine technische Sensation. Mit ausgefeilter Aerodynamik, die von der Konkurrenz erst ein Jahrzehnt später erreicht wurde, Einzelradaufhängung mit Scheibenbremsen ringsum und der unübertroffenen Hydropneumatik in einem Auto der Einliter-Klasse machte er echte Hochtechnologie für viele Käufer erschwinglich und wurde zum Bestseller. Mit haushohem Vorsprung wählten ihn Europas führende Motorjournalisten zum „Auto des Jahres 1971“, sogar noch vor dem SM. Nur vom 2CV verkaufte Citroën bis heute mehr Fahrzeuge als vom GS und dem GSA, dem 1980 aus dem GS entwickelten Nachfolger.

Auf der TechnoClassica zeigt Citroën ein besonderes Exemplar dieser Baureihe aus seiner Werkssammlung: den „GS énergétique“. Dieses Einzelstück wurde 1976 von dem Künstler Jean-Pierre Lihou geschaffen, der den Wagen mit einem Muster aus farblich abgestuften Pfeilen in insgesamt 73 Farbtönenen bemalte – eine der aerodynamischen Formgebung des GS kongeniale Gestaltung.

M 35

Die dritte Citroën-Neuheit des Jahres 1970 ist heute fast vergessen, obwohl ihre Motortechnik damals so aufregend wirkte wie heute der Hybridantrieb. Der M 35 war der erste Citroën mit Wankelmotor. Und dem Wankelmotor schien in den 1960er Jahren eine große Zukunft bevorzustehen – fast alle Hersteller befassten sich damit, aber außer NSU und Mazda tat es keiner so intensiv wie Citroën, das eine Tochtergesellschaft mit eigenem Werk für die Entwicklung und den Bau von Wankelmotoren gründete.

Das erste Wankel-Modell, der M35, war ein Prototyp, den man kaufen konnte. Heuliez baute das viersitzige Coupé auf Basis des Ami 8 in einer Kleinserie. Für rund 14.000 Francs – etwa der Preis des günstigsten Citroën DS – wurde es an Kunden verkauft, die sich verpflichteten, damit mindestens 30.000 Kilometer im Jahr zu fahren und die dabei gesammelten Erfahrungen minutiös zu protokollieren und den Citroën-Ingenieuren mitzuteilen. 267 Fahrzeuge wurden gebaut, alle in silbergrau lackiert und auffällig nummeriert. Prototyp Nummer 169 aus der Werkssammlung wird in Essen zu sehen sein.
