Manchmal sind es auch die kleinen, weniger aufwändigen Präsentationen, die aufhorchen lassen. Und so wollen wir auch auf eine – mangels Budget – sehr klein gehaltene Darstellung auf der zum ersten Mal in Essen stattfindenden „Retro Classics“ Oldtimer-Messe hinweisen:
Auf der Retro Classics 2026 in Essen präsentiert der Citroën Maserati Club 1979 in Halle 5, Stand B40, zwei außergewöhnliche Symbole einer Epoche, in der scheinbar alles möglich war: den Citroën SM und die Concorde. Beide stehen für den visionären Geist der 1960er und 1970er Jahre – für technische Kühnheit, europäische Zusammenarbeit und den festen Glauben daran, dass Fortschritt nicht nur funktional, sondern auch schön sein darf.
Der Citroën SM führt die große französische Linie von der DS konsequent weiter. Wo die DS einst mit Aerodynamik, Komfort, Technik und futuristischer Formensprache neue Maßstäbe setzte, übertrug der SM diesen Anspruch in die Gran-Turismo-Klasse: dynamischer, exklusiver und internationaler – ein Reisewagen für ein neues Jahrzehnt, in dem Mobilität, Geschwindigkeit und Stil neu definiert wurden – gezeichnet vom bekannten Designer Robert Opron.
Parallel dazu entstand mit der Concorde eines der ambitioniertesten Luftfahrtprojekte Europas. Als Gemeinschaftsprojekt verkörperte sie denselben Zukunftsoptimismus wie der SM: den Willen, Grenzen zu verschieben, Technik als kulturelle Leistung zu begreifen und dem Fortschritt eine unverwechselbare Form zu geben. 2026 erinnert zugleich an 50 Jahre seit dem ersten kommerziellen Flug der Concorde im Jahr 1976 – ein passender Anlass, diese beiden Stilikonen gemeinsam zu betrachten.
Die Verbindung von Straße und Himmel, von Automobil und Luftfahrt, wird am Stand auch visuell erlebbar. Eine kleine digitale Ausstellung mit über 100 Kunst-Kreationen rund um den Citroën SM und die Concorde zeigt, wie technische Innovationen bis heute Emotionen, Bilder und Visionen auslösen. Der Citroën Maserati Club 1979 lädt alle Besucherinnen und Besucher herzlich ein, diese besondere Gegenüberstellung live zu erleben, ins Gespräch zu kommen und den Stand in Halle 5, B40 zu besuchen. Zwei weitere Citroën SM runden die Standpräsentation ab.
Die kleine Ausstellung ist die Weiterführung der sehr erfolgreichen Präsentation des Euro SM Club auf der diesjährigen Retromobile Paris vor wenigen Wochen (Dank an Pierre Philipps!), die für viel Aufmerksamkeit in den Medien gesorgt hat.

Sometimes it is the smaller, less elaborate presentations that make people sit up and take notice. And so we would also like to draw attention to a display at the „Retro Classics“ classic car show, being held in Essen for the first time, which has been kept deliberately modest due to budget constraints:
At Retro Classics 2026 in Essen, the Citroën Maserati Club 1979 will present, at Hall 5, Stand B40, two extraordinary symbols of an era in which seemingly anything was possible: the Citroën SM and Concorde. Both stand for the visionary spirit of the 1960s and 1970s — for technical boldness, European cooperation, and the firm belief that progress should not only be functional, but beautiful as well.
The Citroën SM consistently carries forward the great French lineage of the DS. Where the DS once set new standards with its aerodynamics, comfort, technology, and futuristic design language, the SM transferred that same ambition into the grand touring class: more dynamic, more exclusive, and more international — a travelling car for a new decade in which mobility, speed, and style were being redefined.
At the same time, Concorde emerged as one of Europe’s most ambitious aviation projects. As a joint undertaking, it embodied the same optimism about the future as the SM: the determination to push boundaries, to understand technology as a cultural achievement, and to give progress a distinctive form. The year 2026 also marks 50 years since Concorde’s first commercial flight in 1976 — a fitting occasion to consider these two style icons together.
The connection between road and sky, between automobile and aviation, will also be brought to life visually at the stand. A small digital expo featuring more than 100 art creations centered on the Citroën SM and Concorde shows how technical innovations continue to spark emotions, imagery, and visions to this day. The Citroën Maserati Club 1979 warmly invites all visitors to experience this special juxtaposition in person, join the conversation, and visit the stand in Hall 5, B40. Two additional Citroën SMs complete the stand presentation.
This small exhibition is a continuation of the highly successful presentation by the Euro SM Club at this year’s Retromobile Paris just a few weeks ago (kudos to Pierre Philipps!), which attracted considerable media attention.

Une petite expo numérique réunissant plus de 100 créations artistiques autour de la Citroën SM et du Concorde montre à quel point les innovations techniques continuent, aujourd’hui encore, à susciter des émotions, des images et des visions. Le Citroën Maserati Club 1979 invite chaleureusement toutes les visiteuses et tous les visiteurs à découvrir en direct ce rapprochement singulier, à venir échanger, et à se rendre sur le stand situé Hall 5, B40. Deux autres Citroën SM complètent la présentation du stand.
Cette petite exposition s’inscrit dans le prolongement de la présentation très réussie du Euro SM Club au Retromobile Paris de cette année, il y a seulement quelques semaines (un grand merci à Pierre Philipps!, qui a suscité une forte attention médiatique.
