(English below, Francais au-dessous)

ARTE TV: “Karambolage” – reflections on the Citroën 2CV

The franco-german TV station ARTE has broadcasted a nice 11 minute long story about the history of the 2CV.

to quote from the abstract:

“…In 1937, Pierre Michelin, Citroën’s new boss, demands from his teams a very detailed specification for a new car: “The vehicle must be able to carry four people, traveling at 50km/h, be comfortable enough to carry a basket of eggs in a plowed field without breaking one”. Engineers at the design office get to work. A prototype is being created in the workshops with equipment for less spartan: a single light on the front, a crank to start, a fabric roof for the vehicle, the front windows cut to move the arm and indicate its direction! …”

ARTE TV: Karambolage – “La Deudeuche”
