– Peugeot Saartal GmbH bleibt unverändert in Saarbrücken

Decision taken: Cologne is the new joint Headquarter for Peugeot and Citroën

PSA Peugeot Citroën is counting on synergy effects

– Both brands will continue to operate independently on the market
– Peugeot Saartal GmbH remains unchanged in Saarbrücken

In 2011 PSA Peugeot Citroën has announced to introduce in certain areas a unified organizational structure for both Peugeot and Citroen. In order to implement this new organization successfully in Germany, Peugeot and Citroën will be working together on a common site.

This new location will be in Cologne.

So far, the Germany headquarter of Peugeot has been Saarbrücken-Güdingen, the home of Citroën has been in Cologne-Porz. The employees of Peugeot and Citroën, and the economic committees and works councils of both companies have been informed on 28 March about the planned move to a common location. Also the state governments in Saarland and Northrhine-Westphalia, the mayor of the city of Saarbrücken and the Mayor of the City of Cologne were informed about the plans of PSA Peugeot Citroën. Presumably, the new site in Cologne will be chosen and start to be operational already in 2012. Several sites are currently under investigation, a final decision has not yet been taken though.

Dardart Olivier, the general manager for Peugeot and Citroën in Germany, said: “Saarbrücken and Cologne are each offering excellent conditions which would have justified a decision for either of the two sites. In addition, both brands got historical links within their regions: Peugeot looks back on more than 75 years of tradition in the Saarland while Citroën has more than 85-year history in the Cologne area – and even with its own production. In the end, we have made a business decision not to a specific location, but for a common future of both brands in Germany. Peugeot and Citroën remain independent and continue to operate independently of each other on the automotive market.”

Peugeot’s site in Saarbrücken will not be completely discarded – the seat of modern PSA diagnostic center, which is linked to workshops all over Europe, remains with approximately 60 employees in the Saarland. Even the traditional branch location of the lion mark in Saarbruecken, the Peugeot Saartal GmbH remains unchanged with approximately 110 employees in Saarbruecken. The branch will continue to offer their customers full service and all models of Peugeot-Saarbrücken at sites in Güdingen and Völklingen.
