Der Vortrag behandelt u.a.

* die heutigen EU-Umweltanforderungen,
* Grundöle (Gruppe I und II für Oldtimer) und ihre tribologischen Eigenschaften,
* typische Zusammensetzung der modernen Motorenöle,
* Arten von Additiven und ihre Aufgaben und Funktionen,
* Spezifikationen und Freigaben (ACEA, API/ILSAC, JASO),
* Entwicklung der Technik und Ölanforderung sowie
* Selektion der passenden Normen nach Baujahr der Motoren (vor 1930 bis 1980 und danach),
* Ölverfügbarkeiten heute,
* SAE-Klassen,
* Schalt-Getriebeöle,
* Automatik-Getriebeöle,
* Vergleich der Viskositäten,
* Farbskala der Öle,
* Arten der Ottokraftstoffe, Dieselkraftstoffe und ihre Auswirkungen,
und und und…

TOTAL Germany Guest Speaker at Annual General Meeting of Amicale Citroën Deutschland

At the Annual General Meeting 2013 of Amicale Citroën Deutschland and thus the German Citroën and Panhard club we invited as a guest speaker Mrs. Wilcke of TOTAL Germany, who presented a lecture about the use of lubricants for younger classic cars (“Youngtimer”, German term for cars between 20 and 30 years old) and vintage vehicles (aged 30+ years).

While it was relatively easy in earlier decades to identify the right motor oil for your vehicle, today’s lubricants are much more complex mixed and designed to meet requirements of modern engine generations, which means that for the elderly and old engines very selectively the right oil has to be found, and also to be understand the impact and effects effects – for example, in terms of selecting the right oil additives – contained in the corresponding oil type.

The (German spoken though) presentation covers the

* current EU environmental requirements,
* base oils (Group I and II for classic cars) and its tribological properties,
* typical composition of the modern engine oils,
* types of additives and their properties and functions,
* specifications and approvals (ACEA, API/ILSAC, JASO),
* development of technology and oil requirement and
* selection of appropriate standards for selected decades of the engines (from 1930 to 1980 and thereafter),
* oil availability today,
* SAE grades,
* manual gearbox oils,
* automatic transmission oils,
* comparison of viscosities,
* color range of oils,
* types of gasolines, diesel fuels and their effects,

and much more …
