Participating with a 2CV on the “Histo Monte” rally

Jens Prause, director of the Citroën dealership in Arnsberg (Northrhine-Westphalia), participated with a historical CITROËN 2CV successfully at the AVD-Histo Monte. The famous rallye from Hanau to Monte Carlo was now carried out for the 18th time. The Citroën team “Jens Prause and Olaf Reichling” reached the destination in the harbor of Monte Carlo on rank 25 (out of a total of 53 participants). For their first participation at this legendary rally “on the trail of the historic Monte Carlo rally” it certainly is a remarkable achievement.

From Hanau through the Black Forest and the Alsace region over the snowy passes of the Alps to Aix-les-Bains to the Principality of Monaco: On the 24 special stages of the 1,700 kilometer route a lot was demanded of vintage vehicles and the participants. “But our little ‘duck’ finished the rally without any technical problems, despite of all the snow and ice”, says Jens Prause about those those four days of twelve hours each when they have been on the road: “It was very stressful, but overall a unique and unforgettable experience.”

The Citroën 2CV just returned from an African rally where it participated a few weeks earlier participated, and was hastily prepared for the winter rally by classic car fan Prause, eg. by applying winter tires, snow chains, heater, etc. And since the end of the rally the “Deudeuche” also features another prominent feature: rally icon Walter Röhrl, who accompanied the tour, has signed on to the finish line on the hood – a well-deserved award for such a little car, and Prause is more than happy now to show off on one or the other local reporting…
