Die in den letzten Wochen vor der Pariser Oldtimermesse “Rétromobile 2015” (www.retromobile.com) in den Medien sehr prominent platzierte Auktion der Baillon Collection – der Transportunternehmer hatte in den Nachkriegsjahren einige automobile Pretiosen erwerben können, diese aber größtenteils nicht weiter gepflegt – hat für sowohl die Erbengemeinschaft als auch den Auktionator Artcurial einen deutlich unerwarteten positiven Verlauf genommen – hier werden einige Champagnerkorken geknallt sein…
Die Resultate der Auktion stehen teils in keinerlei wirtschaftlich oder gar symbolisch vertretbarem Rahmen – so wurde ein ohne weitere besondere Historie und im Zustand “6” befindlicher 1924 Citroën 5HP Torpédo, bekannt als “Trèfle” oder “Kleeblatt”, der vom Gutachter vorab auf rund 800-1000 Euro Auktionsresultat eingeschätzt wurde (man also getrost bei diesem Rosthaufen von einem “netten Blumentopf für den Vorgarten” reden könnte), für sagenhafte 23.840 Euro verkauft – man sollte sagen, daß es excellent restaurierte Fahrzeuge dieses Typs für rund 15.000-25.000 Euro relativ einfach am Markt zu finden gibt.
Auch der Verkäufer eines der beiden Citroën CX Staatskarossen, die für den ehemaligen DDR-Staatsratsvorsitzendem Erich Honecker 1989 gebaut wurden, wird sich freuen – sein “CX Rallongé” mit nur 17.500km Tachostand wurde für 95.360 Euro verkauft. Der Wagen wurde im Auftrag der DDR vom schwedischen Karosseriespezialisten Nilsson eigens für den geplanten Besuch des damaligen französischen Staatspräsidenten Francois Mitterrand zum Anlaß des 40-jährigen Bestehens der DDR gebaut, der Umbau soll 120.000 Schwedische Kronen gekostet haben. Der Besuch kam aufgrund des Mauerfalls und der Entwicklungen in Osteuropa jedoch nie zustande, und so wurden die Wagen nie offiziell eingesetzt…

Artcurial auction Retromobile 2015 goes sky high – it’s just crazy
In the last couple of weeks right before the Paris classic car show “Rétromobile 2015” (www.retromobile.com), the media very prominently hyped the auction of the Baillon Collection – the “transporter magnate” had been able to acquire some automotive gems in the postwar years, but these were mostly not maintained – this auction now has taken a much unexpected positive outcome for both the former owneds of the car, and also for the the auctioneer Artcurial – we are sure some champagne corks were popped …
The results of the Baillon auction are partly in no economic or even symbolic reasonable limits – one example being the 1924 Citroën 5HP Torpédo, known as “Trèfle”, a car without further special history and in poorest condition – the auctioneer’s assessment in advance estimated an expected result of about 800-1000 Euro – you could confidently talk in this rust heap by a “cute flower pot for the front yard”.
But it sold – and wow how much it did! An incredible 23.840 Euro (!!!) were achieved – one should remark that an excellent restored vehicles of this type would be available on the market for around 15,000-25,000 Euros and is relatively easy to find. (makes me personally wonder who has consulted the buyer to invest into that…)
Also, the seller of one of the two Citroën CX state vehicles that were built for the former GDR State Council Chairman Erich Honecker in 1989, will surely by happy – his “CX rallongé” with only 17.500km mileage on the odometer was sold for 95.360 Euro. The car was built by order of the GDR by the Swedish bodywork specialist Nilsson specifically for the planned visit of the then French President Francois Mitterrand on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the GDR, the conversion is said to have cost 120,000 Swedish crowns. The visit, however, never materialized because of the Berlin Wall and the developments in Eastern Europe, and so the cars were never officially used …
