Auch im Nachbarland Österreich engagieren sich die Citroën-Clubs öffentlichwirksam beispielweise bei der Oldtimer-Messe in Tulln, die weit über die Landesgrenzen hinweg bekannt ist. Hier der Kurzbericht unseres Amicale-Kollegen Manfred Buchgeher:
Die größte und älteste Oldtimer-Messe Österreichs findet jedes Frühjahr in Tulln statt (ca. 40 km westlich von Wien), heuer am 16. und 17. Mai 2015. Zum Jubiläum “60 Jahre DS” organisierte der DS-Club Österreich, unterstützt von Citroën Österreich, einen großen Messestand mit insgesamt 22 (!) DS-Fahrzeugen; jedes in Österreich erhältliche Modell war ausgestellt.
Besonderes Aufsehen erregten ein DS-Rallye-Fahrzeug und ein sog. “Scheunenfund”, eine DS-Limousine in katastrophal schlechtem Zustand. Ein viel fotografiertes Ausstellungsobjekt war eine DS, bei der das linke Hinterrad abmontiert war, um zu zeigen, dass eine DS auch mit drei Rädern fahren kann. Der DS-Stand wurde nicht nur von unzähligen Mitgliedern österreichischer Citroën-Clubs gestürmt sondern auch von hunderten in- und ausländischen Oldtimerfreunden. Der Andrang und das gute Echo veranlasste die Messe-Leitung, die Clubs um eine neuerliche Stand-Gestaltung im Jahr 2016 zu bitten.
Darüber hinaus noch ein Kurzbericht von der Rallye in Horn, 22.-23. Mai 2015:
Nahe der Stadt Horn, im Norden Österreichs, unweit der tschechischen Grenze existiert eine Rally-Cross-Strecke, ein Rundkurs für Autorennen mit 50% Asphalt- und 50% Naturstrecke. Jedes Jahr wird hier ein 24-Stunden-Rennen für Alt-Fahrzeuge veranstaltet; am Start stehen 50 Fahrzeuge aus allen PKW-Klassen, von Porsche bis Trabant, von Mercedes-Taxi bis Ford Capri. Vier bis fünf Fahrer dürfen sich beliebig oft abwechseln, die Autos müssen weitestgehend original sein (kein Motor- oder Fahrgestell-Tuning erlaubt).
Jedes Team muss versuchen, in 24 Stunden zumindest 1200 km zu fahren (entsprechend einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 50km/h). Wichtig ist, die Fahrzeuge gut vorzubereiten, gute und schnelle Mechaniker dabei zu haben und ausreichend Ersatzteile. In diesem Jahr nahmen drei Fahrzeuge des OECC (OEsterreichischen Citroën Clubs) teil: zwei 2CV und eine Acadiane.
Die A-Modelle haben sich in den vergangenen Jahren als robust, einfach zu reparieren und zuverlässig auf nasser Erde erwiesen. Die Ausfallquote lag bei 50%, unsere drei Citroëns blieben trotz mehrer Spurstangen-Reparaturen bis zur Zielflagge auf der Strecke und belegten die Plätze 2 (2CV), 11 (Acadiane) und 23 (2CV); ein toller Erfolg, der unsere Teams motiviert, ihre Boliden für nächstes Jahr wieder gut vorzubereiten.

Looking across the borders – what’s cooking in Austria?
Also in the neighboring Austria, the Citroën clubs engage very actively in public, for example at the classic car show in Tulln, an event which is perceived as quite interesting and well-known beyond the national borders. We’ve translated the short report of our Amicale colleague Manfred Buchgeher:
The largest and oldest classic car show held each spring in Tulln (about 40 km west of Vienna) took place this year on 16 and 17 May 2015. Commemorating the anniversary “60 years of DS” the DS Club Austria organized in support by Citroën Austria a large stand with a total of 22 (!) DS vehicles; each model once available in Austria was presented.
Special stir was caused by a DS rally car and a so-called “barn find” – a DS sedan in a rather insanely bad condition. A much photographed exhibition object was a DS on which the left rear wheel was removed in order to show that a DS can also be driven with only three wheels.
The DS booth was literally overrun not only by countless members of the Austrian Citroën clubs but also by hundreds of domestic and foreign classic car friends. The rush and the good echo prompted the Fair Administration to ask the clubs to already foresee a new stand construction in 2016.
In addition, even a short report from Horn:
Near the city of Horn, in the north of Austria, near the Czech Republic there is a rally-cross track, a circular route for car racing with 50% asphalt and 50% natural route.
Every year, a 24-hour race for old vehicles is organized; this time the event took place 22.-23. May 2015. At the start there are 50 cars from all car classes, from Porsche to Trabant, Mercedes taxi to Ford Capri. Four to five drivers may alternate as often as they wish, yet the cars must largely be original (no engine or chassis tuning allowed).
Each team must try within 24 hours to drive at least 1200km (corresponding to an average speed of 50km/h). It is important to prepare the cars well, to have good and fast mechanics there and enough spare parts. This year three vehicles of OECC (Austrian Citroën clubs) participated: two 2CV and an Acadiane.
During the recent years, the A models have proven to be robust, easy to repair and reliable on wet and muddy ground. While the overall failure rate was about 50%, our three Citroën remained despite several tie rod repairs to be able to stay on the road, and finally won position 2 (2CV), 11 (Acadiane) and 23 (2CV); a great success which motivates our teams to prepare well their cars for next year.
