Vor 85 Jahren wurde am 15. Februar 1927 die Citroën Automobil AG im Kölner Handelsregister eingetragen und startete am selben Tag die Serienproduktion von Fahrzeugen in Köln. Seither ist der französische Automobilbauer – mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung während der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges – in Köln ansässig.

1926 hatte Citroën bereits ein 38.000 Quadratmeter großes Areal mit weiträumigen, hellen Werkshallen in Köln-Poll erstanden. Es wurde innerhalb eines Jahres zu einer Fahrzeugfabrik mit einem modernen Automobil-Montagebetrieb und eigenen Gleisanschlüssen umgebaut. Schon im ersten Produktionsjahr waren rund 400 Mitarbeiter mit der Fertigung des ersten Citroën „Made in Germany“, dem Citroën B14, beschäftigt. In den Folgejahren wurden rund 20.000 Citroën Automobile, unter anderem vom Typ C4, C6, 7CV sowie Lastfahrzeuge und Omnibusse, in Köln produziert.

Nach der Annexion des Werksgeländes durch die Nationalsozialisten am 1. März 1940 dauerte es rund zehn Jahre, ehe die Automobilmarke in Köln wieder Fuß fassen konnte. Im Februar 1950 bezog die neue Citroën Automobil AG, Verkaufsgesellschaft für Deutschland, Büroräume in der Cäcilienstraße.
Fahrzeuge wurden seither jedoch nicht mehr in Deutschland produziert. Die heutige Citroën Deutschland GmbH ist seit 1959 im Kölner Stadtteil Porz-Westhoven ansässig.

Heute arbeiten in der Kölner Citroën Zentrale rund 280 Mitarbeiter. In Deutschland verfügt Citroën über ein Handelsnetz von rund 250 Vertragspartnern für den Vertrieb von Neuwagen und circa 800 Vertragswerkstätten, die den bundesweiten Service sicherstellen.

Anlässlich des Jubiläums wird der Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Köln, Jürgen Roters, im Rahmen einer Citroën Veranstaltung am 13. Februar 2012 um 11 Uhr in der „Design Post“ in Köln-Deutz (Deutz-Mülheimer-Straße 22a, 50679 Köln) die Glückwünsche der Stadt Köln überbringen.

85 years ago, Citroën launched its automotive production in Cologne / Germany

85 years ago, on 15 February 1927, the Citroën Automobil AG commercially registered in Cologne and started mass production of vehicles in the same city. With a brief interruption during the Second World War, the French car maker is based in Cologne.

1926 Citroën had purchased a 38,000-square-metre complex with spacious, bright factory buildings in Cologne-Poll. It was rebuilt within a year to prepare for a car factory with a modern automobile assembly plant and its own railway sidings. Already in the first year of production Citroën employed around 400 people and started with the production of the first Citroën “Made in Germany”, the Citroen B14. In subsequent years, some 20,000 Citroen vehicles were produced in Cologne, amongst them the C4, C6, 7CV Traction Avant, as well as trucks and buses.

After the annexation of the plant site by the Nazis on 1st March 1940, it took about ten years before the car manufacturer was able to gain a foothold again. In February 1950, the newly established “Citroën Automobil AG, Verkaufsgesellschaft für Deutschland”, settled their office space in Cologne’s “Cäcilienstrasse”.

However since vehicles were not produced any longer in Germany. Today’s “Citroën Deutschland GmbH” has been based since 1959 in the Cologne district of Porz-Westhoven. The Citroën headquarters in Cologne employs about 280 people. In Germany, a Citroën dealer network of some 250 contractors for the sale of new cars exist, and some 800 authorized workshops providing the service nationwide.

To mark the anniversary, the Mayor of Cologne, Juergen Roters will deliver the city’s congratulations as part of a Citroën event on 13 February 2012 by 11 clock in the “post-design” building in Cologne-Deutz (Deutz-Mülheim-Straße 22a, 50679 Cologne).

85 ans avant, le 15 Février 1927, la “Citroën Automobil AG” a registré du commerce et a commencé la production des véhicules à Cologne le même jour. Avec une brève interruption pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le constructeur automobile français est basé à Cologne.

1926 Citroën avait acheté un complexe 38 000 metres carrés avec des chambres spacieuses, des bâtiments de l’usine à Cologne-Poll. Il a été reconstruit dans un an pour une usine des voitures avec une usine d’assemblage automobile moderne et de ses embranchements ferroviaires propres. Déjà dans la première année de production d’environ 400 employés etaient occupé avec la production de la première Citroën “Fabriqué en Allemagne”, la Type B14. Dans les années suivantes, quelques 20.000 voitures Citroën sont produit à Cologne, y compris les types C4, C6, Traction Avant 7CV ainsi que les camions et les autobus.

Après l’annexion de l’usine par les nazis le 1er Mars 1940, a duré environ dix ans avant la marque a été en mesure de prendre pied encore une fois. En Février 1950, la nouvelle “Citroën Automobil AG, Verkaufsgesellschaft für Deutschland” prend place dans son vente bureau a la Cecilienstrasse. Toutefois, les véhicules depuis n’ont pas été produits en Allemagne. Aujourd’hui, “Citroën Deutschland GmbH” a été fondée depuis 1959 dans le quartier de Cologne Porz-Westhoven.

Aujourd’hui, le siège de Citroën à Cologne environ 280 employés. En Allemagne, un réseau de concessionnaires Citroën de quelque 250 entrepreneurs pour la vente de voitures neuves et quelque 800 ateliers agréés qui assurent le service national.
