Robert Opron now Honorary Member of Citroën SM Club Deutschland / Citroën-Strasse

The much-anticipated Technoclassica visit of Robert Opron, former chief designer of the Citroën era between 1962 to 1976, was a resounding success and has caused quite a stir internationally. Many Citroën enthusiasts had prepared for this visit and were standing guard of honor to welcome the responsible for the design of Citroën SM, Citroën CX and Citroën GS and anxiously wait for an autograph – and not just on paper, posters and biographies: even large model cars and a complete vehicle tailgate were presented to receive the distinctive signature of the signer, skulpteur and now 80-year-old master of famous Citroën design.

A small ceremony was the highlight of an otherwise fairly informally held visiting agenda: The Citroën SM Club Germany has awarded Robert Opron as Honorary Member of the club and handed him a membership certificate. And true to the motto “every outstanding man is just as outstanding as the woman behind him” the couple and thus also his wife Geneviève Opron were subsequently awarded an Honorary Member certificate by the “Citroën-Strasse” club association in recognition of the Opron’s commitment and dedication to the brand and the fans.

However Robert Opron’s presence was not fixed to the booth of “Citroën-Strasse”. As more than 2.500 cars were on display at Technoclassica, soon he was on his way to re-study the details of vehicles of of classic and modern automobiles and analyze body shapes in design and style. During the visit of the Citroën booth in Hall 4, this year’s subject “Citroën and the Arts”, said Robert Opron recalled many details of his earlier work and the design phases he has been involved into. With regard to the latest version of the DS front wing with the steerable headlamps, which was introduced in 1967, Opron reported, for example, not only about the technical advantages of such a structure, but also with the significantly reduced production costs which were only a fraction of previous costs for the former generation which incorporated the still free-standing headlamps.

Although Opron had left Citroën and terminated his professional works decades ago, his activities have not finished by far. Constantly the master of the body lines is active and develops new designs for cars, for example, putting the emphasis on comfort and convenience of access, great visibility, clean lines and most of all appealing design. We hope that his creativity is preserved for a long time, thank you again for visiting and we wish him and us many active years – and certainly hope to see both Geneviève and Robert Opron soon again here in Germany!

Thank you, Madame et Monsieur Opron! 🙂

(English below, Francais au-dessous)

Vom 21.-25.

An 5.

    Folgende Werksteams traten damals an:

    * Datsun mit einem 240Z (255PS), zwei 180BSSS (175PS), 1600SSS (125PS und 150 PS).

    * Peugeot 504 Gr2 (180PS + 140PS), 504 Gr1

    * Citroën: DS23 Gr2 (175PS), zwei SM Proto (250PS) und einem GS Gr2 (80PS).

    * Renault: R17 TS (155PS), einem Alpine 1800 Gr4, und R16 TS

Robert Opron

Herzlich Willkommen also vom 21.-25.3.2012 in Halle 9.1 und Halle 4!

Welcome to Citroën-Strasse at Technoclassica 2012!

For the 24th time, from March 21-25 2012 world’s largest fair for classic cars, “oldtimer” and youngtimer, motorcycles, spare parts and restoration in Essen / Ruhr opens its doors. Of course, all 1,200 exhibition booths in the 20 exhibition halls and on the open-air grounds of the Essen Trade Fair are fully booked. With more than 2,500 collector’s automobiles, vintage cars, classic and young classic cars on sale, the organiser of TECHNO-CLASSICA, S.I.H.A., can offer the expected 180,000 visitors more than just the world’s largest range of fancy vehicles, themed “Only the best…”: also in 2012, the TECHNO-CLASSICA will again be the world’s largest historic show of the international automobile manufacturers.

And right in the middle of the fair is again the “Citroën-Strasse”. At its usual location in Hall 9.1 (upper level), the association of all German Citroën clubs presents two major topics:

  • the Citroën SM Club Germany celebrates its 25th anniversary and presents in this context not only the “Grand Tourisme”, that prestigious sports coupe from which only 12.920 copies were built between 1970-1975, but also a unique prototype which is known as the “1973 SM Rallye Bandama”, from the famous “Conservatoire,” the heritage collection of the manufacturer.

Driven by Björn Waldegaard, this group V prototype finished third overall in the 1972 TAP Rally in Portugal. In the 1973 Bandama Rally – still known as the Ivory Coast Marathon – it was driven by the Verrier-Umbricht team and came in sixth behind an identical SM driven by Neyret-Terramorsi (5th) and the group II DS23 of Bochnicek-Kaja (3rd). Of the seventy three cars that started the rally, only eight arrived at the finishing line 4,000 kilometres later, having overcome all kinds of obstacles.

Depending on the demands, top speeds achieved were in the range between 240km/h up to 255km/h. …

Surely this unique rolling prototyping platform is a very special object for studies not only for Citroën fans, but also for those who prefer the “conventional” to the electronically controlled technologies, and which are the results from thorough and innovative mechanical engineering services at a time when no PC was available to dimension this complexity of installation.

Also the rest of the Citroën-Strasse booth space this year is again under a particular theme:

  • Following the slogan “The Legendary Citroën World Meetings”, the other clubs will present a retrospective of the vehicles from the last decades which could be found at various Citroën meetings, for example at the ICCCR (International Citroen Car Club Rally). The ICCCR are considered being the “Mecca” where Citroën enthusiasts meet, as thousands of Citroën and Panhard vehicles are coming together every four years and celebrate the success story of a company’s product line which started in 1919.

This year, the ICCCR world meeting will take place in Yorkshire, England. At Citroën-Strasse, the organizers will present their event with us and invite all of you to still benefit from the favorable early booking discounts. Also next year will be another major event for Citroën enthusiasts – the 20th 2CV World Meeting will be held in the northern Spanish city of Alcañiz. The organizers will present their event as special guests of Amicale Citroën Deutschland.

And of course, are again very special vehicles at the Citroën-Strasse booth:

  • We expect a very rare version of a right-hand drive Traction Avant 1939 roadster (cabriolet) made in England. Citroën had set up some production facilities in Slough / UK to produce vehicles which meet the rather particular taste of potential English buyers. Since at least 51% of all parts of this Slough-built Citroën are made in England, the manufacturer could avoid the “import tax” and thus sell the rather unfamiliar French cars at an attractive price on the island.

  • Also, the “goddess” Citroën ID19 Safari 1964 will arrive from across the channel. Under the name “Safari” Citroën marketed in England the estate models (in France sold as “Break”).

  • The Dyane IG, which represents since the last year in Germany the interests of the “sister” of the 2CV, presents a very rare two-window “Dyane 6 Commerciale Confort” from 1968. The Dyane this year celebrates its 45th anniversary, as it was sold from 1967.

  • Yet another birthday can be celebrated this year – the famous Rosalie will be presented in its former glory.

  • One of the most sought-after classic newcomer cars, the CX will be present at the “Citroën-Strasse” booth as a station wagon. We will feature a “CX 2000 Super Break” in excellent condition which is also the oldest known existing Citroën CX Break station wagon in Germany. The CX Break was for many not only a large-capacity transporter for families and businesses, but could be found on countless Citroën meeting as a “rolling sleeping bag”.

  • Another Traction Avant from the postwar period (the “gangster limousine” was built 1934-1957) will be “on show”. The 11CV is an inseparable part of Citroën’s meeting.

This year we are expecting a very special guest of honor at our booth: Robert Opron, chief designer of Citroen, which we owe the design of the SM, the CX and GS, will visit us during the weekend at our booth. We are especially pleased to welcome the “grand master” of Citroën’s perception in the 60s and 70s again with his wife Genevieve Opron. He will be accompanied by the exhibition organizers of EXPO BERTONI, Patrick André and Rosemarie Gumz, whose design exhibition of life and work of the also famous Flaminio Bertoni, Opron’s predecessor, can be seen in parts at the Citroën booth in Hall 4.

Another highlight will be the presence of cartoonist of vintage comics from the publisher Eckart Schott. We are delighted to see that famous comics such as “Le Gang des Pinardiers” is finally getting a face, and you will get to know “the brains behind”!

We also welcome members of the “Amitié des Françaises de Düsseldorf” which is a non-profit organisation of ca. 300 women, French origin or French speaking ladies who live in or around Dusseldorf. As we have set up initial contacts at the Dusseldorf French festival last summer, we jointly planned to intensify our relationships and certainly will have a good time at our Citroën-Strasse “bistrot”… 🙂

The Amicale Citroën Deutschland will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 24 March 2012 and invites all clubs and their presidents to get informed on the upcoming ICCCR event, the 2CV World Meeting 2013 and listen to latest news from Citroën, as well as to elect the new Delegates for ACI in Germany.

But there’s more to come – also the German subsidiary of Citroën has released a press notice, translation by ACI-D S. Joest:

“… Citroën Germany this year will present a quite extraordinary offering at the Techno Classica fair: “Citroën and arts” is the tagline of the booth of Hall 4. In cooperation with the Citroën Conservatoire in Aulnay-sur-Boin, the “corporate memory” with a collection of more than 400 historic Citroën vehicles and large archives in the north of Paris, Citroën Germany is currently preparing an attractive presentation of artistic depictions of historical Citroën automobiles.

It’s not just about two-dimensional works of art, eg. paintings, drawings and photos, but also about the memory of elaborate three-dimensional presentations of automobiles with the “double chevron” trademark. There are examples in the history abundantly, among others at the Paris Motor Show of 1962, as a vertically suspended Citroën DS, the famous “Fusée” (rocket), was presented. Also many remember the spectacular performance of the DS in 1959 on four balloons on water instead of wheels to symbolize the hydropneumatic suspension comfort.

Citroën Germany still keeps it’s presentation a big secret. “We have so many choices, but space is limited even now, so we are working on the details with the clubs as we speak” said Stephan Lützenkirchen, Press and Public Relations Director of Citroën Germany.

And there is another anniversary to celebrate this year: 80 years ago, in October 1932, the Citroën Rosalie was presented as types 8, 10 and 15. Even though it’s successor, the legendary Traction Avant, was introduced in 1934, the Rosalie was produced yet another year in many variants, eg. as an open two-seater, coach, limousine, van with box or flatbed, and many people will remember the legendary “Petite Rosalie” which set in 1933 over 190 national and 100 international records in her 300.000km round trip at Montlhéry.

The gap to the present is bridged by the brand-new Citroën DS5 with it’s Hybrid-4 propulsion technology (Diesel engine for the front axle and electric motor for the rear axle), which continues to present the Citroën tradition to build avant-garde cars.

As in previous years, Citroën Germany is working closely with the Citroën clubs. In addition to the presentation of Citroёn Germany the clubs will present at the “Citroën-Strasse”, the Association of all German Citroën clubs, a great offering along 400 square meters in Hall 9.1, this year focusing on “25 Years of Citroën SM Club Germany” and a retrospective on the legendary Citroën world meetings…

So – come and see us – we’re happy to welcoming you at Essen!

März 2012 in Essen stattfindet.

Zweiten Weltkrieges – in Köln ansässig.

—–

85 years ago, Citroën launched its automotive production in Cologne / Germany

85 years ago, on 15 February 1927, the Citroën Automobil AG commercially registered in Cologne and started mass production of vehicles in the same city. With a brief interruption during the Second World War, the French car maker is based in Cologne.

1926 Citroën had purchased a 38,000-square-metre complex with spacious, bright factory buildings in Cologne-Poll. It was rebuilt within a year to prepare for a car factory with a modern automobile assembly plant and its own railway sidings. Already in the first year of production Citroën employed around 400 people and started with the production of the first Citroën “Made in Germany”, the Citroen B14. In subsequent years, some 20,000 Citroen vehicles were produced in Cologne, amongst them the C4, C6, 7CV Traction Avant, as well as trucks and buses.

After the annexation of the plant site by the Nazis on 1st March 1940, it took about ten years before the car manufacturer was able to gain a foothold again. In February 1950, the newly established “Citroën Automobil AG, Verkaufsgesellschaft für Deutschland”, settled their office space in Cologne’s “Cäcilienstrasse”.

However since vehicles were not produced any longer in Germany. Today’s “Citroën Deutschland GmbH” has been based since 1959 in the Cologne district of Porz-Westhoven. The Citroën headquarters in Cologne employs about 280 people. In Germany, a Citroën dealer network of some 250 contractors for the sale of new cars exist, and some 800 authorized workshops providing the service nationwide.

To mark the anniversary, the Mayor of Cologne, Juergen Roters will deliver the city’s congratulations as part of a Citroën event on 13 February 2012 by 11 clock in the “post-design” building in Cologne-Deutz (Deutz-Mülheim-Straße 22a, 50679 Cologne).

Here is the press release in the original download (German spoken though).

ARD-Programmhinweis:
http://programm.ard.de/TV/3sat/2012/01/27/autolegenden/eid_280077322149218

Some excerpts translated by us – text (C) ARD:

“…He is a brilliant engineer who introduced many innovations in the automotive industry and invented modern advertisement strategies. He was the first who addressed women as clients and realized that the car is connected to emotions. Legendary are the African and Asian expeditions, which he performed with Citroën vehicles to proof their superiority. For years, Citroën is ahead of the competition. But then he got caught at the end of the 20s by the world economic crisis. His life’s motto: “If an idea is good, no price too high,” is also part of his commercial fate. 1934 he must file for bankruptcy. André Citroën became ill and died a short time later, in July 1935, at age of 57. But the car brand that he created lives on…”

Enjoy – and thanks to Mr. Michel author of this TV production for this sharing this great info with us all!

Wer so denkt, denkt kurzfristig.

Euer

Solidarity with Citroën in Cologne: The Logo - for your website, please link to www.amicale-citroen.de - thanks!

Alerting News: Will PSA / Citroën shut down the Cologne subsidiary? Join our solidarity address to keep this site!

Those of you who have been following the press around Citroën in the last few days more intensively, will certainly have noticed that currently the PSA Group has initiated major considerations for restructuring and the associated savings along their brands Citroën and Peugeot.

After European revenues have been going down in 2011, particularly in markets like Spain, Italy and Great Britain, led after second half of 2011 with a loss of approximately 405 million Euro, and after Jean-Marc Gales already had to leave the company and was replaced by controller Frédéric Saint-Geours, the group is searching for new ways to optimize operating costs (“OPEX”) in all markets.

Shortly before Christmas, the approximately 300 employees of Citroën in Germany (their headquarter being located in Cologne) were informed that especially in logistics, administrative and business support functions headcounts will be reduced, and the country-specific branch offices from both Peugeot and Citroen potentially are to be merged like intended also in other countries. In total, PSA aims to save around 800 million Euro and strives to lay off about 6,800 employees.

Until now, Peugeot’s German headquarter is located in Saarbruecken near the French border – there are about 350 employees. Citroën’s businesses currently are managed from Cologne, and the banks of both brands run their headquarters in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt, employing another 350 employees. Currently, internal project groups are investigating different scenarios on how expensive the restructuring would be in case the two sites would be merged – the alternatives are to concentrate either in Cologne, Saarbrücken or Frankfurt as a third, neutral location. The decision should be made in the coming weeks and will be announced in March 2012.

The “Kölner Stadt Anzeiger”, Cologne’s biggest regional newspaper, reported about it on 3rd January 2012 – the Amicale Citroen Deutschland has referenced the article – but the message in itself can not be published without comment from our enthusiasts perspective.

For many club members and Citroen enthusiasts in Germany and abroad, the decisiontaking is about way more than just doing a financial benchmarking, or to investigate on how to address the “shareholder value” and investor’s confidence. And not just to secure the jobs that are threatened – an issue which is bad enough by itself anyhow.

Since 1926, Citroën had established its presence in Cologne, since 1927 German Citroën cars were built in this city near to the Rhine. The now 85-year-old tradition of this manufacturer – which by the way is older than the Ford headquarters (they settled in Cologne in 1931) – can not simply be wiped away by a controller’s view onto fiscal figures.

Whoever thinks like this, reacts short term and does not think sustainable for the brand.

The region is one of the main centers of automotive companies in Germany – next to Citroën, also Mazda, Toyota, Renault, Volvo and Nissan have established their Germany distribution centers. Cologne has a meaning as a business location for the region. Logistically perfectly located on one of the largest transportation hubs in Europe and centrally within the main sales regions, the airport at the city borders and in particular directly adjacent to the “Megapol” of the Rhein-Ruhr region with around 11 million inhabitants, the headquarter is located more than optimal. The owned main office facilities are expandable, redundant industrial land could be sold or rented – another prime cut of the Cologne commercial areas.

And the location can certainly take over the Peugeot workers – which would of course benefit from the logistical proximity: Who really would want to stay in Saarbrücken, in *that* solitude?

Cologne is not just any city. It is not about just any mediocre automotive group, which exists maybe only for 15 years on a greenfield site, and which will shut down to move somewhere else.

Cologne is an emotional location with a highly positive national and international emotional value, the Cathedral as a 157m high world heritage site supporting the city’s international perception, and – for those who are not native Germans, important to know – also has a distinguished history in the automotive industry. Dozens if not hundreds of small automobile and motorcycle companies have started here, and the automotive industries have evolved the city into what it now stands for. The Cologne-based automobile history association (“Kölner automobilhistorische Gesellschaft e.V.”) documents the significant historical heritage of this region.

It would not only be a shame to throw away this important heritage, it is short-sighted thinking and an irreparable emotional “faux pas” that could be corrected in retrospect only by expensive measures at a later stage. Such a decision should not be taken solely from the perspective of controllers.

Cars nowadays are not selling like cheese or sausage. And their society status is not given by mother nature, either.

Unlike any other product, it is associated with high emotions, which include the sympathy with the company and its ethical and moral views – and that includes corporate policy. André Citroën himself was one of the first ones to identify this, and shaped the brand’s perception accordingly in the 20s. The German market is highly sensitive to that. Sustainability of a corporate balance sheet must not only consider CO2-emissions or design, but must also be including these factors for decision taking. This is simply because cars are going to get a different status in society as many other “heroes” now become apparent and thus are competing to what is important in modern society’s thinking and its budget allocation.

The proximity to the fans of the Cologne headquarters also makes it attractive from the perspective of “Citroënthusiasts”. In this region the most important events are taking place, to mention eg. the Technoclassica, the world’s largest fair for classic cars and automobiles heritage, not to mention dozens and hundreds of bigger and smaller events, club meetings and rallies of the many local clubs all over.

In Germany, Amicale Citroën Deutschland represents 12.000 club members who are actively supporting the brand and positively act as their brand ambassadors, for modern as well as for vintage cars, and which are mainly concentrated in the Rhein-Ruhr region, too. Worldwide, a “force” of 54.000 organized club members represent a unique value proposition which must not be neglected for the sake of short-sighted incentives.

In short, our “Citroën heart” clearly beats to support Cologne (even when the author of this article is based in Düsseldorf, a city which always has been rival to Cologne 😉 this must be admitted).

How do you see it? Are you supporting our initiative on safeguarding Cologne as Citroën’s headquarter in Germany? Are you in solidarity with the people of working for Citroën in Cologne?

If so, we kindly ask you for some support, here some suggestions:

* At first, please distribute this information in print and online (your club’s website) to your clubs and members, and share our solidarity logo with anybody (click on the logo above to download a higher resolution version).

* Secondly, please express your solidarity with the media. In addition to the comment functions in the “Kölner Stadtanzeiger” (their website resp. article: http://www.ksta.de/html/artikel/1325685752063.shtml), we welcome your comments to this article on our website right below.

* At third, take the opportunity to approach the local politics in Cologne and to ask them for more support. The Cologne mayor, Jürgen Roters ((oberbuergermeister@stadt-koeln.de)) and also the responsible for economic city development in Cologne, Ute Berg, have been in talks with the country manager of Citroen in Germany, Holger Böhme, and have expressed their willingness to support the company to their best. In Saarbrücken, the local politics is not only behind their site, but actively promoting it. Your commitment, calls, letters to the Cologne city government are important.

* Fourthly, a solidarity address expressed to Citroen Germany, PSA France and your local subsidiary certainly leaves an impression.

Thank you for your solidarity!

Yours sincerely,

Oldtimer-Statistik, Quelle: KBA Flensburg, 2011

Bild: 1957 letzter produzierter Traction Avant (Modell: 11B Familiale), Usines Quai de Javel, Paris, (C) Citroën Communication

Bild: 1957 letzter produzierter Traction Avant (Modell: 11B Familiale), Usines Quai de Javel, Paris, (C) Citroën Communication

Herstellerschlüssel: 3001 – Citroën (F)
Typschlüssel: 326
Handelsname: F,FAMILIALE
Amtlicher Typtext: 11-L LEGERE / 11
Anzahl insgesamt: 107

* Citroën Veteranen Club von Deutschland e.V. (CVC, www.cvc-club.de), der
* “Traction Avant!” (www.tractionavant.com), der
* TAVIG (www.tavig.de), sowie
* André Citroën-Club (ACC, www.andre-citroen-club.de)

Will heissen: Fortsetzung folgt… 🙂

Latest statistics about registered vintage Citroen cars in Germany: The Citroen DS

In Germany, one central federal authority, the “Kraftfahrtbundesamt” (KBA), keeps a database about all cars which are registered as well as which types – provided their registration was done properly. For vintage cars, sometimes type approval papers are missing, and especially when imported from abroad, some documents might be inconsistent or not complete so not all cars are assigned properly.

With status of 2011, the KBA has registered a total of 57.476 historic Citroen cars in Germany. Historic means the cars are at least 30 years old. Not properly assigned as explained above are 4.481 (equals 7,8%) from which 2.572 are assigned a historic number plate (“…-…H”).

From those who are properly registered, 1.203 Citroen DS/ID are leading the pack – 1.040 of those (86,5%) can be run as every day historic cars because they applied for the H-plate. Some registration details can be found in the a.m. table.

Over the next week, we will look into other types of Citroen and share with you more statistics from Germany. Stay tuned!

Viel Spass beim Schauen – ab 20:30h gehts los (Dauer:93min).

Interesting TV retrospective on France3: “Louis Renault – André Citroën: La Course Du Siècle”

This Wednesday December 14th, the French TV station France3 will broadcast an outstanding feature on the history of the two big brands. For those who are able to record the production, get ready at 20:30h CET to hear about the rather rarely known history of the early last century.

Translated by ACI-D S. Joest from the feature text:

“…Renault and Citroen. Two world-famous brands. Just like the Eiffel Tower these jewels of the automotive industry are part of the French Heritage. And yet, who knows Louis Renault and André Citroën, the founders of these brands? What is left in our memories of the history of the two biggest industry leaders that France has ever known?

The two rivals shared the benches of the Lycee Condorcet. They built and carried two world-class industrial empires. They delivered a fierce competition, and have shaped the country’s industrial history. Then there’s the two geniuses who invented the modern automobile and which is returned against their creators. History has it all over again…

As in a classical tragedy, the life of Louis Renault and André Citroën is a dark and intimate with a taste of ashes of lost times. Never in France men had left so little and had reached so high. Never as powerful men had finally lost everything, almost at the same time.

The terrible economic crisis of the 30s also affected Citroën. Ruined, he died in July 1935, months after he lost control of his plant for the benefit of Edouard Michelin. Ten years later, Louis Renault, locked in the prison of Fresnes for collaborating with the enemy, dies in a clinic of a brain haemorrhage before he could defend his honor.

This film is the story of two destinies mingle with tragic fates of France and the world in the first half of the twentieth century. The story of an industrial adventure amazing in a world shaken by economic crisis and two world wars. The story of a society that has shifted in the modern and the whole car. Our history…”

So – get your PVRs ready and record a piece of history documentation!

Enjoy!

Notre histoire…”

A voir sur France3 le 14.12.2011, 20:30h (93 min).

Enjoy!

(English below / Français au-dessous) Getreu dem Markenclaim „Créative Technologie“ startet Citroën am 10.

The «Citroën Creative Awards» is a forum for bold and innovative ideas where all the participants can give free rein to their imagination focusing on a new vision of the car: Créative Technologie.

2010 was a great success with 57 participating countries and we are now delighted to present a new «Créative Awards» event giving you another opportunity to demonstrate your creativity. This year, we are going a step
further by offering you 3 new challenges : the «Idea», «Video» and «Style» Competitions.

Once the entry submission phase is complete, an international panel of judges will meet select the three winning entries.

1. The IDEA – Challenge

Context:

Créative Technologie is first and foremost about ingenious inventions, inventions that enhance passenger wellbeing, reinterpret automotive design, assist with driving or offer protection.

Citroën is working every day to make car travel more enjoyable: the Citroën DS and its swivelling headlights, the appearance of hydropneumatic suspension as standard, On Board Wifi, Hybrid4 technology or more recently
the eTouch emergency and assistance system are some fine examples of this.

Whatever the destination, driving should be a daily pleasure and protect the environment, as proven by the Citroën Tubik concept car recently presented in Frankfurt. This futuristic nine-seater vehicle stands out with its ultra-flexible interior without sacrificing the design codes of the saloon. The Citroën Tubik is a response to the changing identity of the
modern family, it gives meaning back to travelling and responds to constantly changing uses.

Consumer habits are constantly changing and the car of the future has yet to be created. Taking account of these new needs, we want to work together to reinvent our car travel of the future.

The Challenge:

«HOW DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE TIME SPENT IN THE CAR FOR THE FUTURE?»

Your projects must be innovative concepts you would like to see in your Citroën vehicle in the future, in order to improve time spent in the car. Identify and propose new uses, for new situations. Your project may be accompanied with an explanatory visual. Use it to explain your proposal and devise a solution. All ideas are welcome and you can submit several.

2. The STYLE – Challenge

Context:

Elegant and sophisticated, the limited edition of the Citroën DS3 Ultra-Prestige is unique in its genre. The exterior of the vehicle is characterised by the elegance of diamond-effect wheels, ‘Monogramme’ roof and chrome finishings. For the interior, the seats are upholstered in the «watchstrap» design specific to the DS range. The dashboard strip is finished with «Alpin Weiss» white leather. The materials chosen are normally used for custom-made cars ; the meticulous joining together of fabrics is reminiscent of haute couture.

There is a very strong correlation between automotive style and textiles: the pleasure of materials, the passion for lines, the preoccupation with aesthetics and the inevitable effect of fashion.

In the same way as textiles finish and enhance the car, they are for people a reflection of their personality. In the car as in everyday life, style and movement are closely linked : everyone wants to express their identity while also seeking comfort while they travel.

The Challenge:

«WE TOOK INSPIRATION FROM FASHION TO DESIGN THE DS3 ULTRA PRESTIGE; SHOW US THE REVERSE PROCESS.»

Take inspiration from the car, its materials and style to create a man’s and/or woman’s outfit that could be worn by the driver or passenger. Download the style board so you can put your creation on it as shown by the example attached to the brief.

3. The VIDEO – Challenge

Context:

The Citroën DS5 illustrates the demands and aspirations of Créative Technologie. It breaks the codes of the luxury car: distinguished, sophisticated and exclusive, the Citroën DS5 has all the qualities of a sedan : elegant lines, luxury materials, refined construction…

However, the Citroën DS5 is still an accessible car. Its spacious aeronautical-style interior and big boot are atypical advantages for this type of model. Powerful and economical with its hybrid/diesel engine equipped with Hybrid4 technology, the Citroën DS5 turns eco-efficiency into a unique automotive experience. It is now possible to combine performance and protection of the environment, thanks to a different approach to luxury vehicles.

The Citroën DS5 and its Créative Technologie give a new twist to the codes of the luxury car.

The Challenge:

«ILLUSTRATE THE WORLD OF THE LUXURY CAR COMBINED WITH CRÉATIVE TECHNOLOGIE BY BREAKING WITH TRADITION. »

Create a video presenting your reinterpretation of the codes of luxury, in any sector whatsoever. Submit your entry in the form of a video of your creation, whether you film it or create an animation, 3D film, or flipbook, it’s your choice. Your creation must include the final packshot enclosed with the brief, at the end of the film. It must not be altered.

* Idea Contest

* Video Contest

* Style Contest
